Ok kids, who is tired about reading all of these stories about hockey players and sexual assault or other criminal behavior? Anyone ready to admit there is a deviant subculture in our game that needs to be addressed yet? If you answer no to that question you either cant read or are simply stupid.
So, who remembers Jacob Dittmer and his unreal summer? For those who don’t, lets review;
This is the kid who had sex with a 14 yr old girl, left the condom behind so his DNA could be verified, and admitted to officers that he took a picture of the two of them right after it happened and then showed the officer the picture.
So, the day after he is charged he gets drafted in the NAHL. But, the NAHL team doesn’t know because Dittmer didn’t tell them, and someone must have thought no one would find out.
Then, the kid, less than three months later goes out and gets drunk and drives while out on bond!
Well it looks as though the saga is coming to an end.
Dittmer, who was 18 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to one count of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The terms of a plea deal struck with prosecutors call in part for Dittmer to spend almost two months in jail under a stay of imposition, and serve up to five years of probation. Under a stay of imposition, he won’t serve that jail time unless he violates his probation. He’s also required to undergo sex offender evaluation.
So, Dittmer will pay not much when all is said and done. Not exactly the prosecutions best performance, but it seems like that is par for the course these days.
Maybe, just maybe it might be time for every player to go through some kind of education class on these issues before playing junior hockey? Nahhhhhh I mean why try to educate anyone in order to prevent these things from happening. Its not like trigger locks on guns haven’t been proven to keep kids from shooting themselves or someone else.
