Hey kids, you know the old motto, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again!”
Well, it looks like old Rolf Nilsen is going to get what he wants this time. What happened this time? Well, the team just isn’t very good.
See unfortunately it has very little to do with the coaching. Not much a coach can do when players just don’t want to go to Flint to play. Seriously kids, with all the bad press about the water in Flint, who the hell is going to go there even if the team isn’t effected by the water.
The rumor is Sergei Kharin will be taking over the coaching and GM duties. Permanently? I don’t have the answer to that yet.
What’s a guy to do though? I mean the team has gotten first class treatment in every way according to the players and other reports. But when the players cant win the games, the coach is always the one to take the fall. Too bad for John Gruden because he is a good guy and works hard.
Dave Karpa is gone with Gruden. No answer on Joe Stefan though. A 16-31-4-2 record and 9th place just isn’t good enough.
Then again, how good was the team that came from Plymouth and was rebranded in Flint? Oh yeah they were a whopping 23-38-5-2 at the end of last season. Yep, the Flint team was actually likely to improve on last years record.
Well, so it goes in the life of a coach huh? Summer vacation came early for Gruden and Karpa. Luckily for them they wont have to try to recruit free agents next year because this one is going to look great for any player looking at the OHL as an option.
Yep, nothing like firing your coaches twice in one season to instill confidence!
