Damn, and I thought I was gonna have the day off to golf! Oh well, lets all say good bye to the Marquette Electricians Midget AAA program! See ya, so long, adios, arrivederci!
Yeah yeah, I know this is supposed to be about junior teams folding, but heres the thing kids, this was once a very important program for junior teams.
The boys from Marquette are blaming everyone but themselves for this one, which is what I don’t understand.
See the last few years have seen their coaches and board of directors run this program into non existence. They want to blame everyone but themselves.
See it don’t sit too well with parents, when coaches publicly verbally abuse players, or toss the entire team out of the dressing room, or cut players in front of the whole team only to bring them back the next day. It doesn’t instill confidence in an organization when non hockey people are making hockey decisions, or when once good hockey people go on power trips.
This once proud program was the jumping point into the National Hockey League for Andy Roach (Kalamazoo – St. Louis Blues), Jeff Finger (Houghton – Toronto Maple Leafs), Mark Olver( Boise, ID – Colorado Avalanche) and Justin Florek (Marquette – Boston Bruins). This once proud program produced a high number of Tier II and Tier III players over the years.
Now, after nearly twenty years, because of nothing more than stupidity, its gone. Oh yeah, and because of new rules in Michigan about AAA hockey, they wont be coming back either.
So while the now former Electricians would like to blame everyone else, especially Tier III teams who “raided the roster”, lets place the blame, and the head stone right where it belongs, right in Marquette and no where else.
Hey kids, we got us a mid week special this week. Buy your team its own plot, and The Death Pool will toss in a one hour session with our favorite clairvoyant! That’s right kids, we can bury them, and then you can go back and talk to them, reliving old memories of good times when ever you want for one hour! It will be like they never really left, and you will be doing the rest of the hockey world a favor!
