Hey kids, its a double dose today! Yeah, I know, you cant get enough right?
So, the Michigan Warriors. Yep, clue number one is that they were never named the “Flint” anythings. Why? Well, it was just in case the team had to move out of Flint, and this way they wouldn’t have to rebrand or change any logo’s.
Ummmmmmm yeah, that might have been the plan, but it also might have hurt the team in its ability to get fans to identify with the team that was supposed to represent their town, but ummmmm yeah, they represented Michigan. One of the biggest branding mistakes in hockey history.
So, tomorrow, everyone will see a little deeper into what is to come in Flint.
Perani Arena has been sold. The transaction took place about two weeks ago.
The new owner, yeah well, he wants a USHL team according to TJHN sources. The same new owner who will be pumping a ton of money into the building to bring it up to USHL standards.
Lets face it kids, the NAHL didn’t work, and was never going to work in Flint. But hey, the sources are saying they might just move down the road back to Port Huron. And we all know how well the NAHL was supported there. The smart money is on a move to Lansing Michigan, then again, the NAHL didn’t work too well the last time they were in Lansing either. Anyone remember the Lansing Capitals?
In case you are one of the 6 or 7 Michigan Warriors fans, okay maybe 12, who may not believe this or want to believe this; the players were told about the arena sale last week. Players are smart enough to read between the lines too.
In case you also missed it Costa Papista is involved in the deal, yep, the same Costa Papista who was involved in trying to get the USHL to Port Huron this past summer. The same Costa Papista who was a key player in Muskegon transitioning from minor pro hockey to the USHL four years ago.
Anyone picking up what I am laying down here?
