Ok kids, I promised this special report yesterday. Truthfully though this isn’t gonna be so special, its really more disgusting and embarrassing than anything I have written about.
Now I have never seen the MNJHL’s Minnesota Owls play a game, but I have heard plenty about the reputation of the team, how it treats players and the behavior of certain people within the organization. Embarrassing, disgusting, unprofessional, offensive, and down right F*$#@* up are just a few of the phrases that should be used to describe this organization.
Forget the fact that last weekend they only had 11 skaters. Forget the fact that they got blown out all three games. Forget the fact that they are continuing as they did last year with their loosing ways.
But what you cant forget is Head Coach Travis Kuznia, son of team owner Cindy Kuznia turning the whole weekend into a shit show.
Its not bad enough that that the Head Coach took it upon himself to go out and get blinded drunk before Saturday nights game. Its not bad enough that his own brother told him not to come to the game because he was so drunk. But when this idiot takes one of his players out drinking with him is when it really only starts to get real bad. Oh yeah kids, the Head Coach took a player out drinking with him all day before a game. But that’s just the beginning.
So, you get the Head Coach drunk, one of his under age players drunk, and the Coach still shows up at the game and is drunk enough to bring the under age drunk minor player with him. Yep, they went out in public. But that isn’t even the end.
During the game this drunk was up in the stands, being so loud and rude that families began to leave the building. Not only embarrassing himself, but parents of the home team who were in town for “Family Weekend” had to witness this behavior.
But hey it gets better, or worse depending on how you look at it.
After the game in the parking lot, a fight broke out. Yep, bad behavior inspires more bad behavior. Good stuff eh kids?!
It doesn’t end there though.
There is simply no place in the world for anyone to make derogatory racist remarks to any person or group of people. It is the lowest of the low. It is the sign of an uneducated, and hateful person when racial slurs are used.
Regardless of his drunken state, Travis Kuznia was and is responsible for calling a player the “N” word. This was done in public. In front of witnesses, in front of the Minnesota Owls players, and in front of the referee’s who had just finished working the game.
Think about that for a second.
Now think about this. Over the last year, I have received more complaints and unflattering information about this team and how its operated than any other team in North America.
From ridiculous numbers of players living in what would amount to flop houses, with little to no food provided, to multiple reports of the Head Coach drinking in excess, to players being held back from advancing to higher levels. It is one thing or another on a fairly regular basis.
You think this might be a reason why this team cant recruit? Think it might be a reason why they cant compete?
Get a clue MNJHL, this team has no place in junior hockey. This team is not only an embarrassment to itself, but to the league, and to all of hockey.
Speaking of the MNJHL, my boss reached out to the commissioner and gave him 24 hours to comment, and he didn’t respond. Just sweep it under the rug boys? I don’t think so.
Its a damn shame when leagues cant police themselves, and teams are allowed to continue on year after year, incident after incident. But hey, no sense in doing whats best for the entire league or the player right? Its all about how many teams you have in the league rather than the quality of the organizations you have eh boys?
This team isn’t dead yet, but hey, with the number of players they have we might get lucky pretty soon.
