The Death Pool – Special Report – More Players Lose NCAA Scholarships

Wow, its been a busy week here boys and girls.  Seriously, this is supposed to be my slow time before all the pay to play teams crash and burn!  But nooooooo, apparently I am actually having to earn my check in June this year.

So yeah, you guys remember a little story about players from Wisconsin not being brought back to the team even though all of them had at least two years of scholarship remaining? The Death Pool – The Truth About Scholarships And NCAA Verbal Commitments – They Mean Next To Nothing To Schools

Ok, now that you got that little refresher, meet Dennis Kravchenko, Maddison Smiley, Keith Burchett, and goalie Henry Dill, all of whom just completed their sophomore season.  All four were removed from UMass’ official roster Tuesday.

Now we all knew Dill was toast with the program a month ago when he is alleged to have been caught punching a police car.  PUBLISHERS NOTE, THESE CHARGES WERE LATER DISMISSED.

So, that one was pretty much known.  But what the hell happened to the other three?

Ummmmmmm yeah, well about that.  See, like Wisconsin, UMass just had a head coaching change.  Oh, and when that happens, you don’t have shit by way of commitment.  Yep, that’s how it works kids, student athlete one day, and just a student the next.  But hey, its just part of the game right?

The real surprise here was Kravchenko, a forward from California being gassed.  The kid had 65 points in two seasons at UMass. He was third in scoring during the 2015-16 season with 12 goals and 16 assists.  He was Hockey East’s Player of the Month in October.  But apparently he wasn’t the new staff’s favorite type of borscht.

Anyone want to continue the discussion about how valuable commitments are?  How about all those verbal commitments to schools that are gone now that coaching changes have taken place?  How about all the bragging some of you did last year and the years before about those commitments only to find out now they aren’t worth anything?

Yep, keep on trying to rush the process kids.  But hey, it will surely be completely different for you right?!
