Knights forward Knop makes NCAA commitment

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Carson Knop has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Lawrence University.
He will be joining fellow Knight and teammate Matt Beranek in the Lawrence hockey program, who play in the NCHA.
Knop, a Lake Bluff, Illinois native, tallied 13 goals and 14 assists in 42 games for the Knights this past season. Knop began the season playing for the Janesville Jets, but joined the Knights after two games with the Jets.
Beranek (6’2/195) also was selected to and played in the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division team, where he had one point in two games.  He also had two points in three playoff games.
“We are very grateful to Carson and how hard he played for us this past season,” noted head coach Tom Kowal. “Carson was one of those veteran guys we added that really helped us turn our season around. He battled through a shoulder injury and you could see our team was not the same when he was out of the lineup. We wish him well and know he is going to have an outstanding collegiate hockey career.”
Knop is the tenth player to have secured his college commitment and played for the expansion Knights hockey club this season.
