Hey kids, don’t you just love a good surprise sometimes. Even when its really not a surprise. You know like when you want to ask some hot chick out on a date and you delay asking, but eventually when you do she actually says yes!
Watching the Nor Pac, or the NPHL as they rebranded themselves the last couple of years has been like watching the movie “Ground Hog Day”. I mean every summer we could count on expansion and teams folding and teams not getting enough players. It was freakin clock work I tell you.
We all knew eventually this thing would finally pump the breaks and that the breaks would eventually be gone.
So now it looks like the Bellingham Blazers have bolted to the Western States Hockey League. Probably a good move since the WSHL was a much better league anyway. Should help with Bellingham’s recruiting.
And it also looks like Wenatchee is just saying the hell with it because winning the league the last two years wasn’t even challenging. Yep, what was pretty much a midget team just turfed the rest of the league regularly.
So that leaves the NPHL with 4 teams. Ummmmmm yeah, not so good.
So what do they do now? Hmmmmm rumor has it the RMJHL doesn’t want to add them to their league.
Another rumor has it that the WSHL would only like 3 of the 4 remaining teams.
And yet another rumor has it that the USPHL might be willing to take on a Western Division! Imagine that travel budget kids!!!! Only gonna cost you $15,000 to play there if you got road trips to Boston for showcases!
So here we are kids, its only April and the poop is hitting the fan! Its a few weeks earlier than the last few years, but I will take it. Especially for this league who was on life support for way too long. I mean it was a good effort out west guys, but not one of you other than Bliss Littler knew how to recruit real prospects.
So, I suspect all NPHL merchandise to be going on sale soon. Speaking of which we will be making some T-shirts at the end of the year listing all of this years folded teams and leagues. Make sure to order yours in advance!
