The Death Pool – Special Report – Over Expansion Claims Another Body

Hey kids, how’s your Thursday going?  I am getting ready to hit the road again for some more scouting education.  Yep, some teams out east may be wondering who is taking a ton of notes during their games coming up.

But before I take off for a few days, I had to report on another team that has recently joined the worms in the now cold earth.

Yep, the Thunder Bay Junior B Hockey League doesn’t make the news very often, but hey, they really don’t do too much that’s news worthy anyway.

This past summer, the TBJHL announced the addition of the Smooth Rock Falls Thunder.  ummmmmm yeah, could you maybe add a few more words to that team name there kids?!  Seriously, say that three times fast without biting your own tongue!

I thought that along with all the other moronic expansion that this would be just another team that would limp out of the gate toward a long and shitty season.

But imagine my surprise when I found out Tuesday that the owner pulled the plug on the team!  Seriously, before the season even started, before kids got all moved into billet homes, and spent money traveling, the owner pulled the plug on his own!

Say what you want about the bad idea to begin with, but as soon as the owner saw how many other teams were folding and how few players there were available, he did the smart thing and cut his losses.  Yep, no sense in playing with an incomplete roster.  Some other teams might just want to take a few notes on how to close up shop in a professional manner.

So we bid adieu to the Smooth Rock Falls Thunder.  Though we never heard the thunder clap or saw the lightning strike, you did exist on paper for a few months.  Your contributions, though none really, will be sorely missed.
