Oh yeah kids, we are continuing on with that special time of year. Mergers and acquisitions, expansions and contractions. Just enough to keep all your heads spinning while trying to figure things out.
So, the Met Junior Hockey League on the East Coast lost a bunch of teams earlier this year when they moved to join the Eastern Hockey League Elite Division. That left the Met League with a total of six teams to try to carry on. So, that’s pretty cut and dry and easy to understand.
Now, the six teams from the Met League are joining a new league called the North American 3 Atlantic Hockey League. Say that three times fast kids!
This is pretty much what the old Northern States League did when making the NA3EHL, which is now being merged directly into the NA3HL. Follow me still?
So, the six teams will be under the umbrella of the NAHL. Good thing and should be a well managed league.
The problem though is now this new league is adding two more teams. One expansion team and another team that is on the down low for now. Ummmmmmm yeah, you know what’s next.
Where the hell are all these new players going to come from to fill these new teams? Same old question every year right kids? Well this year it gets just that much more complicated.
Not only do we have all this expansion and reorganization with USA Hockey Tier III teams, but AAU is adding two new leagues to their lineup! That’s right kids, there will be approximately 30 new pay to play teams in North America this coming season!
That is a need to fill 750 more roster spots! Do the math kids and you know there aren’t another 750 junior quality players to fill those rosters!
News flash………..The Death Pool has just moved the over under line for teams folding up to 24 this summer. Make sure to talk to your favorite bookie or make your bets when visiting Vegas because its going to be a busy summer here in The Death Pool!
And now we know why USA Hockey changed the rules when it comes to mergers. Now if all parties agree to the merger it doesn’t need to go for a vote from the junior council. Yep, I sure didn’t see that one coming! Ha Ha Ha
