The Death Pool – Stupid Player Decisions

Oh hell yeah kids, this one is going to be good.  So we all know those arrogant little jerks who think they are too good for the team, or too good to play with certain players right?

What do you say about a player who turns down great opportunities to advance to higher levels because he thinks there might be something better coming later or that he deserves something better?  We say that player is STUPID!  And that putting it kindly boys and girls.

So check this out, player A is a lifetime second line in Midget AAA, he makes a Tier III team and has a breakout year.  Good timing right?  So, the same kid gets to go up to Canada and play Junior A or Tier II and he has another breakout year.  Problem is, it was his last year of junior hockey and the kid refused to take his ACT and SAT over again to boost his scores.  STUPID!  Yep, you guessed it, instead of going to one of the SIX NCAA D-3 schools that wanted him, he now has to go play ACHA D-3.

The kid was so arrogant that he actually told his coach “If they want me my grades wont matter.”  Yeah ok there Chester, see how those grades might make a little difference now?

Player B is a dominating player at Tier III and then Tier II in his last year.  An All Star selection.  Player B thinks he is a NCAA D-1 player when he is told it will not happen for him, and refuses to return the phone calls of nearly a dozen NCAA D-3 programs that would commit to him.  Yes, he refused to return phone calls!  Everyone together now….STUPID!

Player C is a dominating Tier III player for three years.  Player C refuses contract offers from Tier II teams because he is told by two people who never played NCAA hockey, and do not know how to get to NCAA hockey that he should try to go to the OHL instead.  Yep, a Tier III player goes to the OHL ohhhhhhh every once in a just about NEVER!

Player D is a very good Midget AAA player, but not quite ready for the USHL.  Player D calls the USHL team that asked him to come to camp and says “you didn’t draft me, I am not coming to your fund raiser.” and then hangs up.  UMMMMMMMMM YEAAAHHHHHH Once again STUPID!

What’s the moral of these stories boys and girls?  You aren’t as good as you think you are.  Some of you may want to read this Confessions Of A Junior Hockey Coach – You Are Not That Special
