The Death Pool – Truth In Advertising For Camps? Be Very Careful Of These….

WOW! Sometimes all I can say is WOW!!! I mean the shit people will come up with to confuse you players and parents when it comes to picking which camps to attend this spring and summer are amazing.

So, here are a few things to watch out for. If you get fooled or fall for one of these scams then its your own fault. But the following things are happening right now!!!!

So, just so we are clear, it is completely impossible for one person to scout for multiple teams in the USHL and the NAHL. Completely against the rules, and unethical. Yet, one person is claiming they scout for multiple USHL and NAHL teams when they are calling and trying to get players to attend camps!!!!

Review the previous paragraph! One person CAN NOT SCOUT FOR MULTIPLE USHL OR NAHL TEAMS!!!!! Pull your heads out of your asses and wake up. The person making this claim is a telemarketer, a commission sales person and nothing more!!!

Do you see Bob Smith or anyone else scouting for two or more NHL teams? NO!!! And you don’t see it in the USHL or NAHL or any other league either. Because scouts can not objectively separate information and information is not shared among teams.

The only place where information is readily available to all teams is through Central Scouting Services.

The sales pitch goes something like….

We would like you to come to this prospect camp or pre draft camp on this date for this team. Cant make that camp? Well I also “work” or “scout” for these other teams and we have these camps and dates available. Really? Are you this stupid?

So when you get the phone call offering multiple team camp options, hang up the phone. Really. Start using some common sense!

Oh, and this next one is a beauty.

Just because a “camp” sponsors a weekly or monthly award doesn’t mean that the player winning the award attended the camp! Yes. this is the latest scam. Sponsor a player award and make it look like the player attending the camp to the people reading the award announcement. News flash….its bullshit and the player most likely didn’t attend the camp!

Finally beware of events saying they are “Combines” who actually have no access to store and do not provide real combine testing through Central Scouting Services. Many are trying to say they are combines, and they are not.

Combines make your testing information available to everyone. Combines have standardized testing. Combines have the latest technology and they don’t use stop watches and other hand tools. Be very careful and don’t be fooled.
