The Death Pool – When Tier 3 Teams Lie About Being Better For Development Than AAA

Holly shit kids, the Tier 3 recruiting bullshit meter is off the damn charts this summer and it aint even July!

So, lets all remember this one fact…..

Tier 3 hockey is not the best path to Tier II or Tier I hockey.  Read that shit and freakin memorize it you dummies!  Seriously, if I have to read another stupid sob story from one of you idiots who fall for the Tier 3 bullshit story instead of playing AAA I am going to throw up.

So here’s a clue for you…..

Look at the USHL and NAHL draft results.  Yeah, they have all of the results on line.  If you think that Tier 3 players are getting drafted like crazy then you need to see a psychiatrist and get a prescription.

Oh, hate to point this out to you and all but NOT ONE NA3HL player was drafted in the NAHL.  Not one.  Now pull your head out of your ass and take a deep breath.  The NA3AHL had a player picked and they aren’t even in the NAHL family any more!

Guess where drafted players in every league come from…..

The great majority in every draft are taken from AAA hockey.  So lets stop the bullshit story about playing against bigger and older players making you better.  Its bullshit because if it did make you better then Tier 3 players would be the largest group of players being drafted.

The general rule of thumb is pretty simple with this one.  You only leave AAA for Tier II or better unless you don’t have a AAA option.

Already we are getting emails from parents who are falling for this bullshit.

One parent was told that their son “had a better chance of being drafted next year if he played Tier 3”  Ummmmmm yeah, well the drat results don’t prove that to be true.  If anything they prove that to be completely NOT true.

Another parent was told “you will get better exposure with us”.  Really?  Better exposure playing Tier 3 in front of no one but parents most nights?  Instead of AAA in front of NCAA, USHL, Major Junior and Tier II scouts?

All the Tier 3 coaches spreading this bullshit should be ashamed of themselves.  How can you look in the mirror?  How can you tell someone with a straight face that it is smarter to give up AAA to play Tier 3?

So here is a little question for all you to ask the next coach you hear this shit from.  Ask the coach if he played AAA or Tier 3?  See the simple answer will almost always be that any coach that played at a high level did not play Tier 3 over AAA.

See if you believe the Tier 3 theory that a 16 year old should play with and against 20 year olds, then you probably believe its okay to leave a newborn baby with a bunch of five year olds unsupervised.  Think that’s extreme?

Chances are the new born gets ignored, struggles to socialize, and eventually doesn’t get enough food to survive.  Same chances that the 16 year olds development needs are ignored, they struggle to socialize with players that are older, and they eventually don’t get the ice time they need to survive.

But hey, wtf lets hurry up and play junior hockey because some coach who needs to fill his roster to get paid says its a good idea.  Its one of those situations my mom likes to call “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should”.
