The Minor Pro Geographical Shift Is Coming – AHL & ECHL Teams On The Move

The long rumored shift in the AHL to the Western United States, along with the ECHL moving franchises to the Eastern United States is expected to be announced today.

While there is no direct correlation with junior hockey, there is sure to be an impact.  Long term exposure to the ECHL and previously the CHL, the Western United states has seen some “pro” hockey.

The impact of the elevation in player skill, as well as entertainment value to the consumer is sure to generate additional interest in youth as well as junior hockey.  While the ECHL is good, the AHL is loaded with NHL ready players just waiting their turn.

With a press conference scheduled for 3:00 Eastern time, the following teams are expected to effected;

Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings), Worcester (San Jose Sharks), Norfolk, Va. (Anaheim Ducks), Oklahoma City (Edmonton Oilers) and Glens Falls, N.Y. (Calgary Flames),
