The Playoff Push: Feb. 2, 2024

By USPHL Staff
In The Playoff Push, we will take a look at the busiest game days’ most integral games in regards to teams clinching playoffs or clinching specific playoff berths, as we head down the stretch toward the end of the regular season in early March.
USPHL Premier
Fresno hosts Ontario today for the second of a three-game set. Fresno needs a 3-point weekend to secure Pacific Division home ice or a two-point weekend and a lost point by Las Vegas. Las Vegas is at Casper for three games starting today.
Vernal’s magic number vs. Casper is four to clinch home ice in the Northwest. Bakersfield visits Vernal for three starting today. Any combination of four points earned by Vernal or lost by Casper will clinch that home ice spot.
The Dells Ducks (22 points) host the Minnesota Squatch and the Minnesota Moose host the Mullets (20 points) today. Isanti (21 points) is idle. Isanti and the Mullets have three games in hand on the Ducks. Those three teams are fighting for the final two Midwest West Division playoff berths.
Other Premier games today are all rungs on the ladder to final positioning.
USPHL Elite
There are no games that will have an effect on playoff berths today in the Elite, but as with Premier, teams can continue to push for better positioning.
