The Pre Draft Combine begins tomorrow May 18th with a staggered player check in beginning at 8:00 am. On Ice testing will begin at 9:00 am, and carry through until goaltender sessions begin at 6:00 pm.
“With ten teams, and one hundred and eighty players this year, we had to come up with a new check in system so we did not have a line running outside of the building.” Said Neil Liston VP of Player Development New England and Europe
“The first day is all about on ice testing, and allowing the players to get comfortable. We have developed a formula that creates a competitive team bonding environment right away, which carries over into the games beginning on Friday morning.”
This is the Pre Draft Combine Main Event. After conducting two additional satellite events at the University of Denver and Niagara University in March, all star players, and select players from other locations are brought to LC Walker Arena in Muskegon Michigan to be seen by scouts from around North America.
“Last year we had seventy two scouts come through our doors for one hundred and eight players. This year we are expecting around one hundred scouts to come through over the course of four days.” Said Joseph Kolodziej CEO Hockey Holdings Group parent company of the Pre Draft Combine
“We work very hard as a group to make this event the best it can be each year. We began working on the 2018 events about two months ago. We are adding more satellite locations around North America and a few in Europe based on scouts asking us to collect more player data and scouting reports.”
The Pre Draft Combine has become a supplemental scouting tool for all levels of hockey. Pre Draft Combine Alumni regularly move on to be top producers in the USHL, NAHL and Canadian Tier II leagues, before moving on to NCAA programs.
With reduced scouting budgets, and longer season schedules, the Pre Draft Combine fills the scouting needs of high level programs.
2018 Pre Draft Combine dates and locations will be announced the first week of June.
