THF Weekend Preview: Stars and Aviators…

Another full weekend of Tier 1 Hockey Federation action is on the way, with teams across the league hitting the ice on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.

As September rolls along, the regular season is beginning to take shape. Teams are settling into their schedules, building chemistry and getting more opportunities to see how they stack up against competition from across the THF.

This weekend brings another two days to compete, develop and keep building — with plenty of hockey on the schedule from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

And Saturday night, the THF Game of the Week heads to Pittsburgh.

Game of the Week: Elmira Jr. Aviators at Pittsburgh Stars

Pittsburgh Ice Arena

The weekend’s featured matchup brings the Elmira Jr. Aviators to Pittsburgh, where the Pittsburgh Stars will defend home ice in an 18U battle under the Game of the Week banner.

And if the numbers are any indication, there may not be much separating these two.

The THF’s KRACH Odds add another element to this week’s matchup. Available through each age division’s standings page, the feature gives players, coaches and fans another way to see how teams stack up against one another based on the league’s KRACH data.

Heading into Saturday night, the KRACH Odds give Elmira a slight edge over Pittsburgh, adding a little more intrigue to an already exciting 18U matchup.

Of course, those numbers only tell us what things look like before the puck drops.

Pittsburgh gets the advantage of playing this one at home, while Elmira comes into the matchup holding that narrow edge in the KRACH Odds. At 7:00 PM Saturday, the two teams get the chance to settle it on the ice.

Fans can check out the 18U KRACH Odds and standings ahead of Saturday’s matchup, and KRACH Odds can be found for every level directly through each division’s THF standings page.

Plenty More on Tap

Game of the Week may be Saturday night’s featured matchup, but it is only one piece of another busy THF weekend.

Games are slated throughout both Saturday and Sunday as teams across the league continue working through the opening stretch of the 2026-27 regular season.

At this point in the year, every weekend provides something valuable. Teams have another opportunity to find consistency, players get more meaningful reps against high-level competition, and each game gives clubs a better idea of where they stand and where they can continue to improve.

The season is still young, but the work being put in now sets the foundation for what comes next.

Whether it is building off a strong start, responding after a tough result or simply taking another step forward as a group, there is plenty to play for when teams hit the ice this weekend.

Follow the Action All Weekend

Fans can keep up with schedules, scores, standings, statistics and more throughout Saturday and Sunday through the THF Game Center.

And while you are checking the standings, take a look at the KRACH Odds for your division to see how the numbers view the weekend’s matchups.

Two days. A full slate. Another opportunity to get better.

We’ll see you at the rink.
