Timmins tames Rayside-Balfour 8-2

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock got three points apiece from Devin Panzeca and Jordan Rendle to help them blast the Rayside-Balfour Canadians 8-2 Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at McIntyre Arena.

Michael Norris and Rendle put the Rock up a pair early before the Canadians cut the deficit in half with Rudy Giusti’s first of the season.

Ryan Theriault put Timmins back up by two with a power play at 16:51.

After a scoreless second stanza the two teams combined for six goals in the third, including five by the Rock.

Panzeca, with a pair, Norris, Theriault and Tyler Somers all found the back of the net for Timmins in the frame while Danny Lepage had one during a man advantage for Rayside-Balfour.

Logan Ferrington was solid in the Rock net making 46 saves to pick up the win.

Jessie Morin started for the Canadians and suffered the loss allowing six against on 45 attempts while Kevin Labelle gave up two on 12 shots in relief.
