Tony Granato To Be Named Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach

Multiple sources are reporting that Wisconsin Badgers Alumni Tony Granato, will be named as head coach of the hockey program.

Granato will replace Mike Eaves who was let go from the position just over a week ago.  Granato will be leaving his assistant coaching position with the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings in order to take the position.

Sources are also reporting that Granato will bring on more Wisconsin Badgers Alumni in naming his brother Don Granato and Mark Osiecki as assistant coaches.

Key to recruiting could be the addition of Don Granato as assistant coach.  Currently the Head Coach for the USA Hockey National Development Team Program, he would have first hand knowledge of all players in the USHL as well as Midget AAA programs throughout the country.

Osiecki, is currently an assistant coach with the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks top development team.

TJHN will have more on this story as it develops.
