United States Border Staying Closed To Canada

As TJHN reported on Tuesday, Canada has decided to open its border to vaccinated people wanting to visit Canada who would comply with some other restrictions.

TJHN also said, that if the United States did not open the border, that it would not matter if Canada opened or not.

The United States will not be opening the land border with Canada for at least another 30 days, and experts are predicting that it will remain closed until after January 1, 2022.

Those Canadian’s that were expecting to travel to the USA for vacations and shopping will not be doing so. Those Canadian teams that were hopping to travel to the USA to play games and compete will not be doing so for the foreseeable future.

This also means that teams based in the United states, outside of Major Junior and the NHL, will not be able to travel to and from Canada until the border opens. Canadian teams will not be able to compete in games in the United States for the foreseeable future.

All those people who jumped the gun and issued press releases saying everything is going to be alright, should now be issuing apology press releases.

Yes, it is possible the United States changes its mind and re-opens the border before January 2022. Possible, yet not probable.

The border with Mexico is also involved in all land border closures, and that one will not be opening any time soon. In order to maintain good political relations with Mexico, Canada must also suffer the same fate.

Time to active the backup plans boys. This COVID pandemic is far from over. Don’t see another season disappear when you still have options.
