USHL Names Adam Micheletti Director of Hockey Operations

Micheletti spent last three seasons with Dubuque Fighting Saints

The United States Hockey League today announced that Adam Micheletti has been named USHL Director of Hockey Operations and Player Development.

Adam will join the League office headquarters in Chicago next month.  He takes over for Tony Gill, who spent four seasons as the administrator and coordinator for all League hockey operations matters, and served as the day-to-day conduit between the USHL’s sixteen general managers, the Office of the Commissioner, and USA Hockey.   Gill, a former standout player for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and at the University of Notre Dame, is leaving the USHL to pursue other opportunities.

“This office, the USHL, and the world of junior hockey owe a huge debt of gratitude to Tony Gill, and the professionalism and organization he brought to this organization,” said USHL President and Commissioner Skip Prince.  “From his work with our Competition Committee, to the development of our USHL Combine series, to his re-working and defining our regulations, to the introduction of our Player Safety Initiative, to his coordination of our relationship with USA Hockey, there has been no one better.  Tony will remain part of the USHL family on special projects going forward.”

“Bringing Adam over from the Fighting Saints allows us to continue to develop and expand this critical role,” Prince said.  “His great hockey pedigree and experience have served him well, and the success of the Dubuque organization is in no small part due to Adam’s efforts both on and off the ice.  We’re looking forward to harnessing his talent and expertise on behalf of all of our Member Clubs as the USHL moves forward.”

In his new position with the USHL, Micheletti will oversee all hockey administrative duties, including communication with USHL Member Clubs and USA Hockey on player eligibility matters.  He will also have a lead role in marketing and player development events conducted by the League, such as tournaments, annual combines, and presentations to USHL prospects.

Micheletti brings a wealth of knowledge to the USHL office as he spent the last three seasons serving as the Director of Hockey and Business Operations for the Dubuque Fighting Saints.  In that role, he supported the coaching staff in scouting, recruiting, and player personnel decisions, in addition to budget management and hockey administrative functions.  He also worked closely with the business side of the organization to support its overall sales and marketing efforts.

During his time in Dubuque, Micheletti was part of two Clark Cup championships, including the 2012-13 season when the Saints also captured the regular season Anderson Cup title.  He worked closely over the past three seasons with head coach Jim Montgomery who was twice named USHL General Manager of the Year.

Micheletti also has experience at the NHL level as he interned with the Washington Capitals, working with the team’s hockey operations staff.  He was involved in multiple areas, including data and salary cap analysis, organizing player contract information, and additional data associated with the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement.

He is a 2007 graduate of Boston College with Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Leadership.  Adam is the son of former NHL player and coach Joe Micheletti who is now a television analyst for the New York Rangers in addition to radio and television work with the NHL.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL now prepares for its 12th season as the nation’s only Tier I junior hockey league in 2013-14.  With 19 NHL Draft picks on team rosters and over 300 players already committed to NCAA Division I schools this season, the USHL has emerged as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.  For more information, visit us on the web at www.USHL.com or visit the League’s social media platforms, including Facebook (www.facebook.com/ushlhockey), twitter (www.twitter.com/ushl), and YouTube (www.youtube.com/ushlinteractive).  Fans can also watch USHL action all season long, live or on-demand via FASTHockey (ushl.fasthockey.com).
