Forwards
Sean Lajeunesse, Northern Cyclones
From the Elite team with the best winning percentage (.935, off a 21-1-1-0 record) and best current winning streak – 9-0 – comes this ‘04 from Littleton, Colo. Lajeunesse was gigantic in December, posting five goals and seven assists for 12 points in just eight games. He leads the Cyclones in goal-scoring with 17 goals, and is second in points with 28. Two of his three game-winning goals came in December, the other being registered in the final November game.
Quirino DoCanto, Bridgewater Bandits
DoCanto (‘02/Wareham, Mass.) has kept his team right in the points race for the lead of the North Division. He never fails to produce offense, picking up five goals and adding seven assists for 12 points in the Bandits’ eight December games. He put up a total of 23 goals and 20 assists for 43 points on the season thus far, good for fourth in league scoring, the best showing by nearly 10 points from anyone in the North Division.
Karson Glass, Islanders Hockey Club
They were somewhat quiet in November, playing in just four games, but they made some great progress from the light schedule going 3-1, and falling only to the league-leading Cyclones. The ‘04 Glass was clicking at a better than point per game pace through the month, putting up five goals and adding two assists for seven points, part of a greater 6-7-13 line going back to the IHC Showcase on Nov. 19.
Defense
Joshua Page, Northern Cyclones
Page (‘03/Raleigh, N.C.) continues to be a leader for the Cyclones as they push to dominate the league both offensively – where they’re second in goals for at 5.26 and first in shots on goal at 43.70 per game – and defensively, where they are second in goals against (1.74) and shots against per game (25.57). Page has contributed to all of this, as he posted two goals and six assists for eight points in six games, and is the heart and soul of one of the league’s toughest defensive corps.
Riley Klas, Boston Junior Bruins
Klas (‘03/Moscow, Idaho) has been a bright spot in helping the Junior Bruins earn a big win over the Springfield Pics. Klas was a point-per-game producer during the month of December with three goals and five assists for eight points in eight games. After posting two goals in the first couple months, Klas scored three in December, helping him improve from five points going into December to his current total of 13.
Goaltender
Maximilian Pierce, Northern Cyclones
The ‘04 out of Harrison Township, Mich., was solid as a wall throughout December, winning all four of his starts and he’s on a 5-0 run that is part of his 11-1-0-0 overall record. He picked up two wins against the surging Bandits, as well as victories against the Islanders Hockey Club and Springfield Pics. He posted his third shutout with 21 saves against the Pics. All told, he posted 93 saves on 101 shots for a .921 save percentage and a 1.96 goals against average.
