USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: South Region

Games of Feb. 18-24, 2025

Southeast Division 

Forward: Dominykas Jurjevas, Potomac Patriots 

Jurjevas (‘04/Elektrenai, Lithuania) scored his first GWG of the season and posted a 2-3-5 line against the WBS Knights. In the 12 games he played for the Patriots Elite team, he posted 19 points and finished with 112 career points in 75 games. 

 

Defense: Breyen Hanna, Potomac Patriots 

Longtime Patriot Hanna (‘06/Fredericksburg, Va.), who goes back years with the organization’s Midget teams, including playing most of this year in the THF with the Patriots 18U team. He scored three goals against the WBS Knights 

 

Goaltender: Anthony Trantas, Carolina Junior Hurricanes 

Trantas (‘05/Morrisville, N.C.) stopped all 23 shots he faced from the Charlotte Rush on Feb. 21 to finish the regular season at 5-0-0-1 run. Trantas’ final win of the season gave him a career-best 15 wins and a .925 save percentage. 

 

Florida Division

Forward: Matthieu Leblanc, Bold City Battalion

Leblanc (‘07/Austin, Texas) was everywhere at once it seemed for the Battalion, scoring five goals and adding five assists for 10 points in just two games. He currently stands with 42 points in 38 games. 

 

Defense: Ty Elzinga, Florida Eels 

Elzinga (‘07/Cape Coral, Fla.) is back at this spot for another week after a second outstanding series in a row, scoring a goal and two assists against Palm Beach to finish the regular season on a five-game, eight-point scoring streak. He closed his second junior year with 27 points in 42 games. 

 

Goaltender: Shane Passaro, Tampa Bay Juniors

Passaro (‘04/Palm Springs, Calif.) registered a 29-save shutout and 46 saves on 47 shots over Feb. 21-22. Passaro only lost in regulation once all year in November and stands with a career-best 16-1-1-1 record and a .928 save percentage.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
