Forward: Noah Trathen, Florida Eels
Trathen came up huge yet again, repeating in this position after also starting hot in September and October. He put up eight goals and three assists for 11 points over the last five of his six November games, and he carries that exact point streak into December’s action. No opponent seemed to have an answer for Trathen, as he fired a team-leading 57 shots on goal (and 28 more than his closest teammate) and he was also defensively sound with a +6. He is at 39 points in 22 games, very close to his 46 points he posted in the full 44-game season last year.
Forward: Jacob Duhaime, Bold City Battalion
The ‘04 from Ellenton, Fla., a fourth-year USPHL player, was critical towards the Battalion’s 4-0 month of November. He registered two goals and added five assists for seven points for 1.75 points per game. Duhaime entered December with points in nine straight games and he has 24 points in 17 games, already bypassing his 20 points of the full season in 2022-23. Duhaime won 45 of his 89 faceoff attempts and blocked three shots in the month, tying for the team lead among forwards.
Forward: Brett Strick, Bold City Battalion
It’s Strick-ly business in Jacksonville, as this ‘03 from Goodyear, Ariz., a second-year USPHL Premier veteran, put up two goals and five assists for seven points to match his teammate Duhaime (and two other blueliners below) in the team lead for the month for the 4-0 Battalion. Strick also tied for the team lead with a +5. For this season, he had 21 points in 17 games entering December (after putting up 23 points in 42 games last season).
December: Hugo Rova, Bold City Battalion
Rova (‘03/Sweden) was another of the Battalion quartet that had seven points in four games – and the third to get that off a 2-5-7 line. He had the game-winner in a victory against the Palm Beach Typhoon as well. The first-year North American player was all over the ice for the Battalion, not only with the aforementioned offense, but he also tied for his team’s lead in blocked shots (five) and hits (three). He was second in ice time (25:48). He has attained 17 points in 21 games this year.
Defense: Emil Grinsvall, Bold City Battalion
Chalk up another seven-point performer for the Battalion during their four-game schedule in November. Grinsvall (‘04/Goteborg, Sweden) definitely put in the time to excel, registering a team-leading 28:05 as he posted three goals and four assists for seven points. His +5 and three hits were tied for the team lead as well. Over the Nov. 10 and 11 weekend, he had back-to-back three-point games. Grinsvall now has 19 points in 17 games for Bold City in his first North American season.
Goaltender: Timothy Miller, Florida Jr. Blades
Miller (‘04/Fairless Hills, Pa.) had a fantastic month in playing all 185 minutes of timed hockey for the Jr. Blades and earning points in two of their three games in a light November schedule for the team. He went 1-1-0-1, which included a massive 66-save effort on 68 shots in a 3-2 victory against the division-leading – and local rival – Florida Eels. In his two other games, Miller stopped 53 of 55 in 65 minutes of an eventual shootout loss, and he also registered 46 saves in a loss. Miller currently has an impressive .923 save percentage on the season after 10 appearances.
Selection Process: The league media office sends top candidates to divisional coaches for review and coaches either approve or challenge the nominations.
