USPHL Premier 2023-24 Great Lakes Division Players Of The Month: December 2023

Summaries by Joshua Boyd / USPHLPremier.com

Forward: Tyler Bautko, Metro Jets

Out of eight games played in December, Bautko (‘05/Macomb, Mich.) registered points in seven of those with eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points, good for 2.63 points per game. He had a streak of four multi-point games (including a seven-point outing) too start December. He currently has 50 points in 27 games as a junior rookie out of the Belle Tire program. Bautko’s +25 was second on the team among forwards.

Forward: Ronan Keenan, Nashville Spartans

Keenan (‘03/Lawrence, N.J.), the five-year USPHL veteran, was huge for his team by averaging 3.33 points per game. For the month of December, he put up six goals and 14 assists for 20 points in just six contests. He scored in every game of the month and had a peak of seven points scored on Dec. 9. He led all Spartans forwards with 20:34 per game. Keenan was lightning on the draw as well, winning 82 of 127 shots for 65 percent. In the new year, he also was credited with possibly the biggest assist of his team’s season – starting up their team bus when it was having issues during the USPHL Tampa Showcase!

Forward: Aidan Gonzalez, Toledo Cherokee

Gonzalez (‘05/Dearborn, Mich.) played in just five games overall and racked up the offense with flying colors, putting up nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, good for 3.8 points per game last month. He tied for the team lead in plus-minus with a +14. For this season, the first-year junior player put up 29 goals and 60 points in 29 games so far.

Defense: Austin Micale, Nashville Spartans

Micale (‘03/Hamilton, N.J.) was hitting big numbers yet again, not just on the scoresheet. He scored eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in six games. He also led all Spartans with 24:13 per game and a +18 for the month of December. A former teammate of current fellow Spartan Ronan Keenan with the Mercer Chiefs 15 Only team in 2018-19, Micale currently has a 21-30-51 line in 31 games this season.

Defense: Carson Redd, Metro Jets

Redd (04/Macomb, Mich.) registered a 5-9-14 line over the eight games of December, during which they were undefeated including a four-game run at the USPHL Las Vegas Showcase. He led the Jets blue line with 40 shots on goal, and he currently has a line of 9-32-41 in 28 games.

Goaltender: Taylor White, Metro Jets

White (‘03/Bay City, Mich.) played 177 minutes over three games during the month of December and won all three games, including a 15-save shutout to start his month. In Las Vegas, he stopped 22 of 23 shots against a typically powerful offensive force in the Fresno Monsters and also stopped 23 of 26 against another top Pacific Division team in the Ontario Jr. Reign. All told, he stopped 60 of 64 shots with a .938 save percentage.
