Forward: Gus Immken, Nashville Predators
Immken (‘04/St. Louis, Mo.) is a third-year junior in his first full season in the Premier Division, and he’s just tearing it up with a league-leading 20 goals through Halloween. He’s also added 18 assists for 38 points in 17 games, equating to 2.24 points per game. Immken is also the third-leading scorer in the league with his 38 points. He is a +22, which is tied for the team lead with Khyle Flynn.
Forward: Khyle Flynn, Nashville Spartans
On a loaded Spartans team, in their first year in the Great Lakes Division, there could be almost any two players here, but Flynn has solidified his spot with 20 assists (sixth in the league) and 17 goals for 37 points in 18 games. That give him a 2.06 points per game average this year, giving him about an 88-point pace, which would be double last year’s points. The ‘03 from East Wenatchee, Wash., was already one of the top forwards in the former Premier Mountain Division last year and he is certainly among the tops in the league now.
Forward: Aidan Gonzalez, Toledo Cherokee
The ‘05 from Dearborn, Mich., and Gabriel Richard Catholic High School, has been one of the best junior rookies around as evidenced by the 2.23 points per game he is averaging. In 13 games, he has 13 goals and he’s also added 16 assists for 29 points. He’s also done his job with a +18 rating so far.
Defense: Carson Redd, Metro Jets
Talk about knockout rookies, Redd (‘04/Macomb, Mich.) is – almost out of nowhere – the leader among ice time for the Jets, always one of the league’s top defensive squads. In 22:35 per game, he’s a +27 and he’s helped the Jets to give up just 18.22 shots per game, best in the league.
Defense: Austin Micale, Nashville Spartans
Micale (‘03/Hamilton, N.J.) is a third-year USPHL veteran playing in his first season with the Spartans and he’s certainly made a big name for himself early on. His 27 points led all Premier defensemen through the end of October, thanks to 11 goals – also leading the league – and 16 assists through 18 games. Micale is, not surprisingly, leading the Spartans in ice time (24:04 per game) and he’s second on his team in blocked shots (14).
Goaltender: Daniel Duzek, Nashville Spartans
Duzek (‘06/Skalka nad Vahom, Slovakia) has been on top of the challenge of getting to know a new division from Day 1. He helped the Spartans make a statement by sweeping the three-time Nationals participant Toledo Cherokee in their second weekend. He stopped 26 of 27 in the first game and all 27 in the second for his first career shutout. Overall, he has a 6-2-1-0 record with a .919 save percentage and a 2.44 GAA.
Top Performers Of The Week (Oct. 24-31):
Forward: Ronan Keenan, Nashville Spartans – Keenan scored three goals and six assists for nine points in the four games of the USPHL Midwest Showcase last week.
Defense: Brock Hart, Metro Jets – Hart was in on nearly half his team’s 12 goals by posting a 1-4-5 line against the MJDP and Toledo Cherokee last week, while holding Toledo to three and shutting out the MJDP.
Goaltender: Carson MacKenzie, Metro Jets – McKenzie earned his third shutout in four starts by stopping all 19 he faced from the MJDP.
