USPHL Premier 2023-24 Midwest Region Players Of The Week

Games of Sept. 25-Oct. 2, 2023

Midwest West Division

Forward: Caden Sutter, Minnesota Mullets

The Mullets earned a weekend sweep of the Dells Ducks, and much of it was due to the efforts of Sutter (‘03/Eau Claire, Wis.), who put together two two-goal games and added three assists for a seven-point weekend.

Defense: Jacob Rude, Minnesota Squatch

Rude (‘03/Anoka, Minn.) joined the Squatch after splitting last year between the NCDC and Alberta Junior Hockey League. He scored a goal and added four assists for five points on the amazing 18 goals the Squatch scored over two games.

Goaltender: Jude Ayling, Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings

The Riverkings rebounded from a Friday 3-2 loss to the Moose by defeating them 3-1 the next day, and this time the star of the show was the ‘03 out of London, U.K., with 42 saves on 43 shots for a .977 save percentage.

Great Lakes Division

Forward: Carson Finney, Metro Jets

Finney (‘03/Holt, Mich.) joined the Jets organization in 2021-22 as a member of the MJDP and is now in his third season in Mount Clemens. Finney scored two goals and three assists for five points to open his new season with a decisive win over Cincinnati.

Defense: Austin Micale, Nashville Spartans

Micale (‘03/Hamilton, N.J.) is back in the USPHL after originally playing in 2021-22 and now returning from the NA3HL. He put up three goals and one assist for four points over two games to help the Spartans defeat Toledo and remain undefeated at 8-0.

Goaltender: Daniel Duzek, Nashville Spartans

Duzek (‘06/Skalka nad Vahom, Slovakia) went 2-0 as the Spartans swept the Toledo Cherokee and stopped all 27 shots he faced in their second game, following a 26-save performance on 27 saves in the first contest, for a total of 53 on 54.

Midwest East Division

Forward: Luke Marchant, Decatur Blaze

Marchant (‘06/Clarence, N.Y.) helped the Blaze to their first two wins since 2021-22 when the Blaze rebounded from an opening 7-6 defeat to the Chicago Cougars to beat them 5-4 in OT and 3-2 in shootout. He scored a hat trick on Saturday, including the game-tying goal, and he also added a goal Sunday and ended the series with a 5-3-8 line.

Defense: Aidan Canady, Chicago Cougars

Canady (‘03/Schaumburg, Ill.) registered four assists during the course of his first weekend with his new team, after being named a Midwest East All-Star last year.

Goaltender: Andrew Parmentier, Metro Jets Development Program

Parmentier (‘04/New Baltimore, Mich.) is two games into the season and he’s only given up one singular goal. Parmentier posted 34 saves on 35 shots against the Battle Creek Kernels. He had opened a week earlier with a 25-save shutout against the Chicago Crush to stand third in the league among goaltenders with multiple appearances with a .983 mark.
