Games of Jan. 10-18, 2024
Forward: Louis Ouellet, College Universel Gatineau
The third-year Universel forward Ouellet (‘03/Baie-Comeau, Que.) put up the hat trick against the Boston Junior Bruins on Jan. 12, and two games later, put up a 2-1-3 line against the Islanders Hockey Club. With 39 points in 29 games, Ouellet is second in team scoring.
Defense: Brady Bomal, Northern Cyclones
Bomal (‘03/Westford, Mass.) had a big couple games against the South Shore Kings and Springfield Pics – both wins – including two goals in the former and a 1-1-2 line in the second game. He was on the ice for five Cyclones goals, and for zero goals against by the other teams. The two-year Elite player has excelled in his first Premier season with 21 points in 26 games.
Goaltender: Dylan Eliason, Utica Jr. Comets
Eliason (‘04/Northville, Mich.) registered 27 saves in a shutout against the College Universel Gatineau, giving him a 3-1-0-0 record and a .938 save percentage for this, his second season. For his Premier career, he is 13-2-0-0 with a .947 save percentage, and he’s also dressed for the Jr. Comets NCDC team.
Atlantic Division
Forward: Joona Juntunen, Connecticut Jr. Rangers
Juntunen (‘03/Hyvinkaa, Finland) registered six goals and added 11 assists for a run of 17 points in just three games over an eight-day stretch. This added to what is now a line of 30 goals and 47 assists for 77 points in this, his second USPHL Premier season with the Jr. Rangers. Juntunen was also a plus-minus leader for the Jr. Rangers with a +11 in these last three games.
Defense: Hunter Scanlon, Connecticut Jr. Rangers
Scanlon (‘03/Rockford, Ill.) put up a line of four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in the three games the Jr. Rangers played against Brooklyn, the Rockets Hockey Club and the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders. This contributed to what was, exiting those games, a career total of 182 points in 113 games. He was just 10 points back of former Wisconsin Rapids Riverking Jordan Stear, whose 192 points is the all-time record for points by a USPHL Premier defenseman. Scanlon is in hot pursuit of this record.
Goaltender: Liam Rice, Jersey Hitmen
Rice (‘03/Evergreen Park, Ill.) had a busy week of making 86 saves on 93 shots, including a great performance against Elmira where he stopped 44 out of 46. On top of that, he put up another 47 shots just over two relief appearances. He first began playing in the USPHL Premier in 2021-22 and joined the Hitmen in December. He has played in a total of 34 games.
