Forward: Tyler Hanson, Rogue Valley Royals
Hanson (‘03/Medford, Ore.) put up five goals and 12 points in eight games during last month’s action, while skating nearly 25 minutes per game – 24:29 to be exact, second on the Royals. The local product from Medford has put up 59 points and he has a very good chance of matching the 70 points that made him a Northwest Division All-Star last year.
Forward: Kristof Molnar, Casper Roughnecks
Molnar (‘05/Komarno, Slovakia) scored seven goals and added seven assists for 14 points in nine games, and all of those came out of six multi-point outings. He led all Roughnecks forwards in ice time at 21:07 per game, and he also co-led the whole team in plus-minus with a +9. Molnar scored his first two shorthanded goals of the season during January, as well. In his second North American season, he scored 40 points in 25 Premier games and also put up one assist in seven NCDC games this year.
Forward: Roman Wolynec, Seattle Totems
Wolynec (‘05/Langley, B.C.) has been a potent distributor for the Totems, as they try to push for the most favorable playoff position in a tight top of the field. He registered three goals and added nine assists for 12 points in six games for 2.00 points per game on average. The second-year Premier forward has racked up 41 points in 35 Premier games this year and has 96 points in 68 regular season career games so far.
Defense: Filip Lezzani, Vernal Oilers
The second-year Oiler Lezzani (‘04/Puchov, Slovakia) put up six goals and 10 assists for 16 points, with 12 of those points coming over each of his final five games of the month, giving him a great scoring streak to start February. Lezzani has been the ice time leader for Vernal this month with 21:43 of average ice time, in addition to being a runaway plus-minus leader with +29 this season for his team. He has 31 points this year and is just three points from tying his 2022-23 full season output. He hopes to be able to send Vernal back to the USPHL Nationals after they made their debut there last year.
Defense: Josef Poch, Casper Roughnecks
The ‘03 out of Czechia is another who has been dominant for his team, recognized from leading the way in ice time (25:15 per game) and also tied for the team lead in blocked shots (17) and second in hits (18), all that paired with point-per-game offense in January. He registered a 1-8-9 line in nine games for Casper, who continue to try to push the division leader Vernal out of first place down the stretch. Poch is one of many Roughnecks who have helped the first-year Casper team a force to be reckoned with in their division right off the bat in Year 1.
Goaltender: Levente Hegedus, Vernal Oilers
Hegedus (Székesfehérvár, Hungary) was tapped for eight of the Oilers’ busy month of 12 games in January, and he came through with at least one point in seven of those eight games, putting up a 6-1-1-0 record. He stopped 378 out of 402 shots for a .940 save percentage, and a 2.95 goals against average over an astounding 488 minutes last month. Hegedus, playing in his first USPHL and North American season, has gone 12-2-2-0. He’s also been able to represent his home country in the World Junior Championships and also gotten an NCDC call-up with the Utah Outliers this year.
