Forward: Siamion Marshchanok, Potomac Patriots
Welcome to Planet Obvious. The USPHL Premier’s points leader continues to be a menacing presence to all defenses and goaltenders he faces – not to mention having a twin brother with whom he’s scored a combined 76 points together – all just through Halloween! Marshchanok leads the USPHL with 44 points off of 19 goals and 25 assists, good for a 2.75 points per game average. He is also tied for the Premier lead in GWG with five.
Marshchanok’s career 1.97 points per game is the all-time best for Potomac, and in the seven years since the formation of the current USPHL Premier Conference, he is third among all Patriots in goals (28) and points (65). He can easily attain both records, standing just seven back of tying the all-time goals lead and 16 points back of the points lead.
Matsvei and Siamion Marshchanok were also tendered in October for the NCDC’s Pueblo Bulls for the 2024-25 season.
Forward: Matsvei Marschanok, Potomac Patriots
Matsvei, Siamion’s 2005-born Minsk, Belarus native twin, has also been ripping it up from Day 1 of the season to help the Patriots to No. 2 overall in the league and they still remain undefeated in regulation at 14-0-2-0. Matsvei has put together 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points in his 16 games so far.
He is also the guy who puts the win in the mailbox after his brother stamps the envelope. Matsvei leads the Premier with six insurance goals just as his brother leads in game-winners with five. Matsvei is in the top 10 for all-time Patriots (since 2017) with career marks of 23 goals and 49 points and a 1.50 career points per game average.
Forward: Caden Glamkowski, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes
Carolina’s 13-4-0-0 record gives the Southeast Division three top-five teams in the Premier overall. A big reason for their success has been the play of the third-year USPHL Premier veteran who crossed the 100-point mark for his career earlier this season. He has posted a line of 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points and an average of 1.88 points per game in his 17 contests so far this year, his first with the Jr. Canes.
The ‘04 from St. Charles, Ill., is currently on a nine-game scoring streak that has seen him put up 19 points in the nine games since Oct. 6.
Defense: Peter Keese, Charlotte Rush
Keese (‘03/Minnetonka, Minn.) is the veteran’s veteran defenseman. With a Premier history going back to 2019-20 and four trips to Nationals under his belt, there are no more experienced blueliners than the active leader in games played for that position (with 155 regular season games under his belt). Keese is also seventh all-time among defensemen for games played, and his experience is showing every night for the first place Rush.
First, there’s the offense, as he’s put up two goals and 17 assists for 19 points in 14 games, good for fifth in points among Premier defensemen. Then, of course, there’s the defense. The Rush’s leader in ice time (23:17) has blocked 31 shots, more than twice as many as his next closest teammate. He’s also a +15 and has drawn a team-leading 14 opposition penalties while only sitting for a total of eight minutes himself so far.
Defense: Jack Day, Charlotte Rush
Day (‘03/New Baltimore, Mich.) is a second-year Premier veteran who also has a Nationals trip under his belt and he’s been big both offensively and defensively for the Rush, who are not surprisingly in the top five overall for offense (6.25 goals per game) and defense (2.00 goals against per game).
He has put up three goals and 14 assists for 17 points in 15 games, good for 1.13 points per game. He’s been on the top defensive pairing this year with Keese, so it’s not surprising he’s also among the team leaders in plus-minus with a +12 mark.
Goaltender: Peter Baldwin, Charlotte Rush
Baldwin (‘04/Chicago, Ill.) is new to the Rush and the USPHL, and it speaks to just how hard the Rush recruit that they can pull in a first-year goalie out of 18U AAA and see him place in the top five for both goals against average and save percentage. Baldwin, a former member of the Esmark Stars program, stands at 5-0 overall and has registered a 1.38 goals against average (fifth) and a .949 save percentage (fourth).
He’s had some big performances such as stopping 33 of 34 against the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes, and 30 of 31 in his league debut at the USPHL Southeast Showcase against the Atlanta MadHatters. He also put up his first shutout on Oct. 20 against the Columbia Infantry, stopping 19 shots.
Top Performers Of The Week
Forward: Kornel Kaibas, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes – Kaibas was huge in posting four goals and three assists for seven points in a Jr. Canes sweep of the Hampton Roads Whalers, putting up a 3-3-6 line on Oct. 29.
Defense: Jack Day, Charlotte Rush – Day put up four assists to help his Rush team to sweep the Richmond Generals over the past weekend.
Goaltender: Andris Zalmanis, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes – Zalmanis stopped 24 of 26 to take the win over the Hampton Roads Whalers, a team that had shut out the Potomac Patriots just a week earlier.
