Springfield Pics 4, Islanders Hockey Club 3 (OT)
The Pics started off their USPHL Premier playoff series on the right note, with a 4-3 overtime win after battling back from a 3-0 deficit. Adam Botlo scored the #OTGWG and added an assist. Nick Zanin also had a goal and an assist, and in net, Troy Huber stopped 29 saves on 32 shots for the win. The Islanders’ Jake Henry stopped 31 of 35 shots. Game 2 kicks off Friday at 12 p.m. A Pics would send them to Nationals, while the IHC are hoping to force a Game 3.
Fresno Monsters 5, Ontario Jr. Reign 2
The Monsters take Game 1 of the Pacific Division Championships against the Ontario Jr. Reign. Five different goal-scorers supplied the offense for Fresno, with Filipp Papshev scoring the GWG, Nils Tunbratt scoring two goals and one assist and Jonathan Heidenberg Anderson scoring a goal and an assist. In net, Fresno’s Brooks Barofsky made 31 saves on 33 shots. For Ontario, Josh Henson made 46 saves on 50 shots. Game 2 is at 6 p.m. PST on Friday.
