USPHL Premier Florida Division Players Of The Month: November 2024

Summaries by Joshua Boyd

Forwards

Augie Ashley, Tampa Bay Juniors

Ashley (‘04/Falmouth, N.S.) put up a massive November, scoring 15 points all in a row, part of a scoring streak that runs seven games long and still active heading into December. He bookended his month with four-point games on Nov. 1 and Nov. 23. Overall, he is tied for the team lead in scoring with 28 points in 17 games.

Jakub Koudelny, Tampa Bay Juniors

Koudelny (‘04/Ostrava, Czechia) is another player who scored points in every November game in which he suited up, registering a 6-9-15 line over six contests. Like Ashley, he also has a seven-game point streak heading into December, and also like Ashley, he co-leads the team with 28 points in 17 games.

Bryson Walz, Bold City Battalion

Walz (‘06/Rockford, Ill.) put up a 1.5 points per game pace during November, scoring seven goals and five assists for 12 points in eight games. He has put up 22 points in 19 games this season and is on pace to bypass the 45 points he scored last year. He co-leads the Battalion in scoring with fellow veteran teammate Sebastian Elrod.

Forward Honorable Mention: Eppu Tervamaki, Tampa Bay Juniors

Defense

Mitchell Berens, Bold City Battalion

Berens (‘04/Plainfield, Ill.) put up all 11 of his November points during a five-game point streak. Also during his five-game point streak between Nov. 10 and 24, the Battalion gave up no more than two goals per game, so he was getting it done at both ends of the ice. He has improved to 15 points in 19 games.

Aki Jokela, Tampa Bay Juniors

Jokela (‘04/Pori, Finland) joined the Juniors just prior to mid-November from the NAHL and made his impact felt immediately. Helping the Juniors to a still-active seven-game winning streak, Jokela put up a 2-3-5 line in his first four USPHL contests.

Defenseman Honorable Mention: Oliwer Lundberg, Tampa Bay Juniors

Goaltender

Russ Decoste, Florida Eels

Decoste (‘05/ ) remains in the top 10 league-wide for both goals against average (1.66) and save percentage (.938). Decoste went 2-2-1-0 for the Eels during the month of November, and he stopped 136 of the 146 shots he faced for a division-best .932 mark for the month, in which he played 304 minutes.

Honorable Mention: Raymond Thompson, Bold City Battalion

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the finalists to the coaches, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
