USPHL Premier Florida Division Players Of The Month: October 2024

Note: October Players Of The Month Includes September Statistics.

Forwards

Sebastian Elrod, Bold City Battalion

Elrod (‘04/Colorado Springs, Colo.) was out of the gate like a slingshot for the Battalion, putting up six goals and five assists for 11 points in his first nine games of his second season in Jacksonville. He improved his career total to 62 points in 54 games overall, and he enjoyed a run of 10 points in five straight games already.

Augie Ashley, Tampa Bay Juniors

A second-year TBJ veteran, the 2004-born native of Falmouth, N.S., seemed to simply pick up where he left off after a strong 37-point season in 2023-24. To start this 2024-25 season, Ashley put up five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 11 games, an average of 1.18 points per game through the end of October.

Jakub Koudelny, Tampa Bay Juniors

Koudelny (‘04/Ostrava, Czechia) has helped the Juniors climb to, and remain in, first place as the calendar flipped from October to November. He matched Ashley’s point production exactly with a 5-8-13 line in 11 games. Koudelny is enjoying a lot of success in his first North American season.

Honorable Mention: Anthony Zebley, Florida Eels

Defensemen

Eemil Ketola, Tampa Bay Juniors

Ketola (‘05/Rauma, Finland) is another fantastic find from overseas for the Juniors, as he has not only put up a 2-9-11 line in 11 games to lead all Florida Division defensemen, but he also helped keep the Juniors to just an average of 2.18 goals against per game as a team, sixth best in the Premier.

Emil Grinsvall, Bold City Battalion

A second-year Battalion standout and a returning Florida Division All-Star, Grinsvall (‘04/Goteborg, Sweden) is another who set out running from the start line of this season. Along with a goal and seven assists for eight points in 10 games, Grinsvall has pushed the Battalion into second place with a 6-2-3-1 record.

Defense Honorable Mention: Ian Dracoulis, Florida Eels

Goaltender

Russ Decoste, Florida Eels

DeCoste (‘05/Enfield, N.S.) was a terrific addition for an Eels team that has always featured strong goaltending. Decoste continued the tradition by making 119 saves on 126 shots out of the gate this season in his first five games, going 4-0-0-1 in the process and earning a .944 save percentage. Decoste had a shutout in his second season.

Honorable Mention: Raymond Thompson, Bold City Battalion

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
