USPHL Premier Midwest Division Players Of The Month: December 2024

Forwards 

Liam Hilts, Decatur Blaze 

Hilts (‘08/Tavistock, Ont.) started the season in the USPHL Elite and advanced in October to the Premier to stay – a great example of USPHL Advancement In Action! In December, he was a huge offensive driver for the Blaze, putting up five goals and four assists for nine points in just six games. He enjoyed a five-game goal-and point-scoring streak last month. He had 19 points through his first 23 games.  

 

Spencer Kauke, Chicago Crush

Kauke (‘05/Rockford, Ill.) put up four goals and five assists for nine points during the Crush’s six games of December. He put up a career-best 29 points in 22 games so far this year, and he has 73 points in 105 games in his three-year Crush career. Adding in his 2025 output so far, he is on a seven-game, 11-point scoring streak. 

 

Bogdan Vysotsky, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

The second-year Spaceman Vysotsky (‘05/Volgograd, Russia) is close to doubling his previous career high from last year, and he now has 35 points in 24 games. During the month of December, he scored seven goals and added five assists for 12 points in nine games. 

 

Forward Honorable Mention: Alexis Toussaint, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

 

Defense

Jesper Frunck, Decatur Blaze 

Frunck (‘04/Stockholm, Sweden) has registered 16 points in 23 games this year, and he is currently on a six-game, eight-point scoring streak early on in January. For the month of December, Frunck put up nearly half of his season points total with a 3-4-7 line in six games for a 1.17 points per game average last month. 

 

Cyler Brogle, Chicago Crush

A third-year Crush veteran like teammate Kauke, Brogle (‘04/Glen Ellyn, Ill.) remains a steady presence for the Crush every time out. During December, he put upu pa 1-4-5 line during six games. He is also committed to play ACHA hockey with Adrian College in 2025-26.  

 

Defense Honorable Mention: Jacob Belley-Pelletier, MJDP

 

Goaltender

Mason Cottreau, Decatur Blaze

In four games of December action, Cottreau (‘05/Airdrie, Alb.) never made less than 40 saves in a game and came out with 176 saves on 189 shots for a fantastic .931 save percentage on the month. He went 2-2-0-0, defeating the Motor City Gamblers with 43 saves on 45 shots, and in his next appearance, stopped 46 of 47 Chicago Cougars shots. A second-year Premier veteran, Cottreau holds a .914 save percentage for this season. 

 

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Jordan Nicolucci, Fort Wayne Spacemen 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
