USPHL Premier Northwest Division Players Of The Month: November 2024

Forwards

Roni Alanko, Vernal OIlers

Alanko (‘05/Helsinki, Finland) put an exclamation point on November when he finished the month with back-to-back six-point games, with a hat trick in each. Overall, he banked 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points in just eight games as the Oilers tied the all-time record for best start to a season with 20 straight wins out of the gate. He currently has 43 points in 14 games.

Kasper Pohjala, Vernal Oilers

Call him Mr. Appleseed, as Pohjala (‘05/Helsinki, Finland) was dishing out apples all over the west through November, racking up 25 assists in addition to four goals for a 29-point November. In nine games, he put up a 3.50 points per game average. While teammate Alanko put up 12 points in his last two games, Pohjala rang up 13 in total. He cururently has 46 points over 15 contests.

Roman Wolynec, Seattle Totems

Wolynec (‘05/Langley, B.C.) has been deemed unstoppable at this point, as he has put together a 74-point season at the 20-game mark. The all-time scoring record and single-season scoring records are within his pace. For November, the share of those 74 points was a relatively modest – for him – 6-19-25 line.

Forward Honorable Mention: Aatu Suontakanen, Seattle Totems

Defense

Konstantin Los, Rogue Valley Royals

Los (‘04/ ) is the league’s top goal-scoring defenseman, having scored 16 goals in 19 games this season. He scored 10 of those goals during the month of November and also had seven assists for the season. With that performance, he has completely evened up his career points per game to 1.00, with 49 points in 49 regular season games.

Ethan Bockus, Bellingham Blazers

Bockus (‘04/Puyallup, Wash.) started off November with a run of eight points three games, and a couple days after Thanksgiving, he had 11 points off a 2-9-11 line through the eight games last month. Bockus is a second-year Blazer who now has 34 points in 54 career regular season games.

Defense Honorable Mention: Blaze Ebbinghaus, Rogue Valley Royals

Goaltender

Levente Hegedus, Vernal Oilers

No one comes close to the win-loss record held right now by Hegedus (‘04/ ), a gleaming 16-0. Hegedus won all six games he played in November, stopping 175 of 185 shots for a .946 save percentage and a 1.72 GAA. He has already equaled his 2023-24 wins total, and has a 32-4-2-0 record and a .934 save percentage for his career.

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Cole Fennema, Seattle Totems

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
