Forwards
Collin Patterson, Florida Eels
The Eels’ third-highest scorer in their USPHL Premier history (126 points in 104 games), Patterson has been just continuing to turn up the volume. The ‘02 from Melbourne, Fla., racked up 10 goals and added seven assists in 17 points over just nine games in the month of December. Patterson’s 22-game scoring streak, with 35 points, is the second-longest streak by just one game. He had three multi-goal games, including a hat trick against the Tampa Bay Juniors on Dec. 4 and consecutive two-goal games at the USPHL Florida College Showcase.
Matt Mongeau, Florida Jr. Blades
The Jr. Blades are having a fantastic season, standing at 14-9-1-0, including a 6-3-0-0 run in the month of December and a 3-1 run at the USPHL Florida College Showcase, of which the Jr. Blades were host. Mongeau (‘04/Windsor, Ont.) put on a show, averaging two points per game through the month, with a line of 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points in nine games. He had three 2-2-4 performances in December alone, including against the Isanti Outlaws, who came into the showcase leading the Midwest West Division.
Anton Egle, Palm Beach Typhoon
Originally listed as a defenseman, Egle has been versatile, playing more forward shifts than D in December and it certainly showed on the scoresheet. In his six games played last month, Egle put up nine goals and three assists for 12 points. The ‘02 Swede is in his second North American junior season, and that experience is showing. Along with his 12 points and a 2.00 point per game average in December, he has posted a total of 15 points through 19 games with the Typhoon.
Defense
Owen Larson, Atlanta MadHatters
Already the MadHatters’ all-time leading scorer, Larson (‘02/Snellville, Ga.) extended a scoring streak through December to 10 total games going back to Nov. 13. He posted three goals and six assists for nine points as the MadHatters picked up some key wins, including against the Jr. Blades, Isanti Outlaws and Carolina Jr. Hurricanes, and always with Larson playing a key role. With 109 points in 149 career games, he is the seventh-highest scoring defenseman in USPHL Premier history – and, as the highest-ranking active blueliner – he’s still climbing.
Kyle Ziemba, Florida Eels
Ziemba (‘02/Harrisburg, Fla.) is another veteran like many on this list, a second-year Premier defenseman who is in his first campaign with the Eels. Along with outstanding offense (2-9-11 in nine December games), Ziemba has been the go-to blueliner for the Eels as they continue to enjoy a comfortable division lead. He was a +10 for the month and also blocked 12 shots.
Goaltender
Duncan Rolleman, Florida Eels
Sixth in USPHL Premier wins, Rolleman has done little else than rack up victories. It took until Dec. 19, when the No. 2 team in the league – the Charlotte Rush – beat him in a 4-3 instant classic showdown, for Rolleman to take a regulation loss. Otherwise, he had started the season 12-0-1-1 before that game, in which he still played very impressively with 33 saves on 37 Rush shots. Through December, Rolleman went 5-1-0-0 with 181 saves on 194 shots for a .933 save percentage and a 2.17 goals against average. He registered 30 saves or more in five of his six December contests – busy, busy!
