USPHL Premier Players Of The Month – February 2023: Southeast Division

Summaries by Joshua Boyd / USPHL.com

Forwards

Ethyn Hopp, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

Hopp had an extra leap in his step when he posted eight goals and added one assist for nine points in six games of February. Hopp (‘02/Edmonton, Alb.) is the all-time leading scorer for the Jr. Canes, having posted 134 points in 119 games.

Wyatt Teubert, Hampton Roads Whalers

Teubert improved to 33 points in 35 games after a six-point month over four February games, putting up a 2-4-6 line. Teubert has a great #USPHLAdvancement success story for the Whalers after posting 29 points in 37 Elite games last year.

Valerii Kneib, Potomac Patriots

Two seasons in a row, Kneib (‘02/Bratsk, Russia) hit the 40-point mark for the Premier Patriots. He accomplished this with a seven-point month of 4-3-7 in five games. The Patriots are preparing for their first Southeast Division playoffs set to begin next season weekend in Charlotte.

Defense

Jeremy Dewar, Hampton Roads Whalers

Dewar (‘02/Beaumont, Alb.) put up the best offensive numbers for any Southeast defenseman last month, posting a 1-5-6 line in six games. He was also a +7 for the month. He put up 26 points in 41 games this year.

Zachary Correia, Richmond Generals

Get that man an ice pack! Correia was credited with 29 blocked shots during his six games over the course of February. The fourth-year General (and third-year Premier defenseman) was determined not to let much of anything past him, and he also found the time put up four assists. He has 19 points over the course of 26 games.

Goaltender

Phil-Antoine Trepanier, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

The ‘03 out of Quebec joined Carolina later in the year, but has been fantastic since his arrival, posting a record of 6-1-0-0, with half of those wins coming during the month of February. This past month, he had a .932 save percentage and a 2.52 goals against average, and he finished the regular season with a 32-save shutout of the division champion Charlotte Rush, whom they will face in the Southeast Division playoffs this weekend.
