Florida Division
Forwards
Vesse-Wincent Lampen, Palm Beach Typhoon
One of the two top scorers in the South region – encapsulating the Southeast and Florida Divisions – clicked at a pace of two points per game over 11 January games. This included four in three days to start 2023 at the USPHL Tampa Showcase. Lampen (‘02/Espoo, Finland) started out with 10 points in those four games, and then added 12 more for 22 points in 11 games. He improved his overall point totals to 61 points in 34 games.
Easton Moore, Florida Eels
You know you’re onto something good when you average better than a point per game over 100 games! Moore (‘02/Red Deer, Alb.) pushed his all-time totals over the last three USPHL Premier seasons to 131 in 121 games, thanks in part to a big 22-point month in January. He played in 11 games, posting a 9-13-22 line over the last 10 of those, starting an impressive scoring streak he has carried into February.
Quinten Shaffer, Columbia Infantry
Shaffer (‘02/Pittsburgh, Pa.) has been one of the most productive players for the first-year Infantry all year, putting up 47 points in 37 games. He started the month with a nine-point performance in four games at the USPHL Tampa Showcase. From there, he posted another six points in four games against Nashville and Tampa.
Defense
Kyle Ziemba, Florida Eels
Ziemba, in his second year as a USPHL Premier defenseman, has blown past his 2021-22 totals by posting 29 points so far here in 2022-23, over 37 games. He had 10 assists in his 11 games and also put up a massive +14 as the Eels posted a 9-2-0 record for 18 points, the second most earned by any Premier team in January. In front of several college scouts, he put up three multi-point games at the USPHL Tampa Showcase, helping him to repeat as a Player of the Month.
Giovanni Grassi, Atlanta MadHatters
Grassi (‘03/Bologna, Italy) put up a 3-7-10 line as the MadHatters continue to be a strong playoff contender in the Florida Division. In the midst of January’s busy 12 games for Atlanta, Grassi put together a seven-game point streak that contained all of his points. Grassi joined the MadHatters with 13 games of NCDC experience under his belt, providing a spark of leadership by example right away for the postseason-hungry ‘Hatters.
Goaltender
Adam Rouleau, Florida Eels
Talk about making an incredible first impression. The former QMJHL goaltender from Rouyn-Noranda, Que., started his USPHL existence with a 32-save shutout of the Eels’ historic Gulf Coast rivals the Florida Jr. Blades on Jan. 14. Overall for January, he stopped 105 of 109 shots that came his way for a .963 wave percentage and a miniscule 1.00 goals against average in his first four Premier games.
