Forwards:
Thomas Soucy, Pueblo Bulls
If it feels like Soucy (’03/Degelis, Que.) can’t stop scoring, well, it’s because he hasn’t. The winger has a 14-game points streak headed into the weekend and was a key piece in Pueblo’s resurgence in November. Soucy is third in the Mountain Division in goals (15) through just 21 games; he added six of those during the month of November and finished the month with 13 points (6-7-13). Soucy is a point short of surpassing his rookie totals from last year and has done it in less than half of the time.
Dimitri Voyatzis, Ogden Mustangs
Voyatzis (’03/Fountain Valley, Calif.) started November with a career-long seven-game point streak and three multi-point games to continue climbing the Mountain Division scoring charts. The Fountain Valley, Calif., center finished the month with 12 points (6-6-12) in eight games, including a goal in the ‘Stangs’ 3-2 win over archrival Utah on Nov. 25. Voyatzis has been Ogden’s most consistent scorer; he’s now recorded a point in 19 of Ogden 22’s games.
Leyton Pettypiece, Utah Outliers
The Outlier forward racked up 12 points (6-6-12) in nine games, helping Utah to an 8-1-0 record in November and keeping the Outliers in first place. Pettypiece (’02/Rochester, Mich.) owns the second-longest point streak in the USPHL: 15 games and counting. Pettypiece has 23 points during his 15-game point-streak and is now second on the Outliers in scoring with 34 points (17-17-34) in 23 games.
Defensemen
Max Edvardsson, Pueblo Bulls
It took the rookie some time to adjust to the North American game, but the ’02 from Ljungby, Sweden burst onto the scene from the Pueblo blue line in November. Edvardsson grabbed 11 points (2-9-11) in 10 games, including four multi-point outings and his first Player of the Week nod in mid-November. It wasn’t all offensive fireworks for Edvardsson; he chipped in 10 shot blocks as well.
Matteo Mitrovic, Idaho Falls Spud Kings
Mitrovic (’03/Graz, Austria) arrived in Idaho Falls and promptly became an anchor for the Spud Kings’ blue line, on both sides of the puck. The Austrian product was Mr. Do-It-All while averaging over 30:00 of ice time per game. He picked up nine points (2-7-9) in 10 games, including two assists in their 5-2 win at Pueblo on Nov. 26. Mitrovic had as many hits as points, nine, and added in five shot blocks as well.
Goaltender: Owen Yancey, Ogden Mustangs
Yancey continues to tear up the goaltending scene in the Mountain Division, earning the Mountain Goaltender of the Month honor for the second month running. He was a perfect 4-0-0 in five appearances and became the first Mountain Division goaltender to reach 10 wins, one of just five goaltenders in the USPHL Premier to have hit that mark. The Boyertown, N.J., product limited opponents’ scoring with a 2.42 GAA and .930 save percentage on 159 shots in his five appearances, highlighted by a stellar 38-save effort in Ogden’s 3-2 victory over Utah on Nov. 25.
