Forwards
Nicklas Millhorn, Toledo Cherokee
Second-year player Millhorn (‘02/Brownstown, Mich.) has made a significant impact leading his team in points with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points in 10 games played. The Toledo Cherokee currently sit at first place in the Great Lakes Division, in part due to Millhorn’s strong performance last month. The captain is averaging over 2 points a game, almost double from what he had last season. In fact, he already has half the points he posted in all of 2021-22.
Brandon Kididis, Columbus Mavericks
The Columbus Mavericks is excited to have second-year player Kididis as the ‘03 hometown hero has made a large impact in his first season with them. With nine goals and four assists for 13 points in 11 games played, Kididis has been dependable, showing great flashes of skill and putting his team every night in a position to win.
Kididis had been pretty hot through most of October. From Sept. 26 to Oct. 22, as he put up seven goals and added two assists for nine points in five straight contests.
Alex Schaumburger, Metro Jets
Schaumburger (‘02/Canton, Mich.) is coming off a phenomenal 75-point season last year and has not slowed down. Schaumburger continues to find the back of the net and set up his teammates to score, with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in nine games.
As a third-year player, Schaumburger is looking for his first championship with the Jets and is doing everything in his power to make that happen, after making the National Championship game last year.
He stands second all-time in Jets goals in the USPHL with 57, he is fourth in assists (63) and third in points (120).
Defensemen
Josh German, Metro Jets
The Metro Jets defender German (‘02/Canton, Mich.) has plenty of experience as a fourth-year player in the league, proving his reliability for the team. With four goals and five assists, German is averaging a point per game. As the leading goal-scorer for defenseman on the team, German continues to find ways to create opportunities for the Jets.
German and Schaumburger go way back, playing together in Salem High School before joining the Jets in 2019.
Ryan Stanley, Toledo Cherokee
The Cherokee is a better team with Stanley (‘02/Trenton, Mich.) on the ice. Stanley has significantly improved his offensive abilities, tallying three goals in 10 games. He continues to create plays for his teammates with nine assists. On the defensive end, this second-year player makes it very difficult for the opposing team, putting up a +8 rating while playing 21:10 per game almost identical to his regular blueline partner Dakota Kott. He also leads in takeaways with 17.
Goaltender
Frank Murphy, Toledo Cherokee
On the ice, Murphy (‘04/Mississauga, Ont.) has proven to be a key differentiator for the Toledo Cherokee, making timely saves in crucial moments. In six games, Murphy has five wins and only one loss with a strong save percentage of .938, making it difficult for opposing teams.
This is his second year in the USPHL Premier, but his first with the Toledo Cherokee and he is a big reason why they sit in first place in the Great Lakes today.
