USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Week of Feb. 19, 2025

Games of Feb. 11-17, 2025

Southeast Division

Forward: Conner Nieto, Potomac Patriots

A third-year Premier veteran, Nieto (‘05/Long Beach, Calif.) scored a goal and added three assists for the Patriots as they defeated the Hampton Roads Whalers twice and are now on a five-game winning streak as they are pushing to take the No. 2 seed in the Southeast.

Defense: Cooper James, Potomac Patriots

James (‘04/Huntington, Calif.) is having his best season offensively for Potomac at the Premier level, registering two assists on Feb. 16 to improve to 16 points in 22 games. James played much of his first USPHL season in the USPHL Elite, making him a great example of USPHL Advancement In Action.

Goaltender: Rocco Stolz, Charlotte Rush

Stolz (‘04/Rochester, Mich.) stopped 32 of 33 shots when he went up against the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes on Monday, picking up the victory against their Tarheel State rivals. He is now 9-2-4-1 with a .932 save percentage and he has 32 wins for his three-year USPHL Premier career.

Florida Division

Forward: Jason Johnson, Tampa Bay Juniors

Johnson (‘06/Minnetonka, Minn.) scored five goals over each of three straight games, including a hat trick and an assist against Bold City on Feb. 14. He also registered an additional assist for seven points in three games for a 2.5 points per game average for the run of games between Feb. 13-16.

Defense: Aki Jokela, Tampa Bay Juniors

Jokela (‘04/Pori, Finland) scored a goal and added four assists for five points, good for a 1.67 points per game average. Like his teammate Johnson, he had points in each of the games and together, the Juniors helped themselves to clinch the Florida Division regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming playoffs. Jokela now has 24 points in 26 games.

Goaltender: Savva Serdiuk, Tampa Bay Juniors

Serdiuk (‘04/Kyiv, Ukraine) stopped 53 out of the 56 shots that he faced in going 2-0 against the Florida Eels on Feb. 13 and 16. This includes a 31-save shutout on Feb. 16. The fourth-year Premier veteran Serdiuk is on a six-game winning streak and is 14-3-0-0 overall this year and 46-18-2-1 overall, and he ranks third all time in Premier wins.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
