USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Week of Sept. 18, 2024

Southeast Division

Forward: Robbie Rajnys, Hampton Roads Whalers

The ‘06 from Virginia Beach – a former Whalers youth player – helped his team put up two fantastic showings in their first weekend against the Potomac Patriots. All told, he scored three goals and one assist for four points after being a point-per-game player for the past two years with the Whalers’ Elite team.

Defense: Tristin McAuliffe, Charlotte Rush

McAuliffe (‘08/Raleigh, N.C.) is a product of the Carolina Premier Hockey program who originally made his debut with the Elite Rush for five regular season and playoff games last year. Out of the gate, he put up a two-assist performance en route to a Rush sweep of Carolina in their opening weekend.

Goaltender: Kirill Guryev, Potomac Patriots

The ‘06 from Moscow made his USPHL debut on Sept. 14 and made it shine with 46 saves on 49 shots in a season-opening Patriots victory against the Hampton Roads Whalers.

Florida Division

Forward: Alex Cochran, Florida Eels

Cochran (‘05/Plano, Texas) has picked up four goals and one assist in his first two Premier games, after putting up great numbers with the USPHL Elite Eels last season. In the season opener, also his Premier debut, he sent home three goals for the hat trick. He added a 1-1-2 line in Game 2, also a win over Atlanta.

Defense: Brendan Dohan, Florida Eels

After splitting last season between the Elite and Premier Eels, Dohan seems to have already established himself as a Premier staple. He started the season with a pair of assists as the Eels earned a weekend sweep against the MadHatters.

Goaltender: Russ DeCoste, Florida Eels

DeCoste (‘05/Halifax, N.S.) made 23 saves for his first Premier win after coming over to the Eels from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.
