USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: West Region

Games of Nov. 12-18

 

Pacific Division

Forward: Sam Bailey, San Diego Sabers

Bailey (‘05/Escondido, Calif.) put up the game-winning goal and added three assists for four points when the Sabers defeated the Henderson Force on Nov. 16. The Sabers are now on a five-game winning streak, and 27 points in 18 games. 

 

Defense: Mason Geng, Ontario Jr. Reign

Geng (‘06/Beijing, China) was powerful for the Jr. Reign as they defeated the Ventura Vikings on Dec. 15. He registered a 2-3-5 line, including the game-winning goal. A two-time representative for China at both the IIHF Under-18 and Under-20 levels, Geng has 13 points in 17 games this year. He is also an alum of the Ontario Jr. Reign Midget program.  

 

Goaltender: Viktor Pasztor, San Diego Sabers

Pasztor (‘06/Budapest, Hungary) won his second straight game by making 33 saves on 35 shots against the Henderson Force on Nov. 15. Pasztor thus improved to 5-3-0-0 with a .921 save percentage on the season.

Northwest Division

Forward: Kasper Pohjala, Vernal Oilers

Pohjala (‘05/Helsinki, Fla.) scored a pair of goals and was feeling extremely generous with his teammates in sending out nine assists for 11 total points in three games as the Oilers extended their winning streak to 19 games. 

 

Defense: Matt Sentes-McGuinness, Bellingham Blazers

Sentes-McGuinness (‘06/Kelowna, B.C.) put up a goal and added three assists for four points as the Blazers picked up two wins against the Bremerton Sockeyes, putting their team record at 10-9. The third-year Blazer now has a career-best 15 points in 18 games, and 20 points in 67 games going back to 2022-23 with Bellingham. 

 

Goaltender: Levente Hegedus, Vernal Oilers 

Hegedus (‘04/Szeverekhar, Hungary) stopped 68 of the 71 shots he faced over two games against Bakersfield. At 15-0, he is the clear wins leader for the USPHL Premier, and also holds a .934 save percentage for both this season and .934 for his career as well. 

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
