USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: West Region

Week of Oct. 30, 2024

Games of Oct. 22-28, 2024

Northwest Division

Forward: Kasper Pohjala, Vernal Oilers

Pohjala (‘05/Helsinki, Finland) has been a huge reason for the Oilers’ 11-game undefeated streak out of the gate. He put up a 3-2-5 line in the Oilers’ only game last week against their new Utah division-mates the Iron County Yeti. Pohjala has posted 17 points in his first six North American games.

Defense: Daniel Radkevich, Seattle Totems

Second-year Totem Radkevich (‘07/Grodno, Belarus) put up two goals and added one assist for the Totems, as they advanced to a 6-0 winning streak. Radkevich improved to 11 points in 13 games for this season.

Goaltender: Francesco Sciabbarrasi, Rogue Valley Royals

It was a close one, but Sciabbarrasi (‘05/Vaughan, Ont.) put up a 48-save shutout victory in a 1-0 shootout defeat of the Bremerton Sockeyes. This was only Sciabbarrasi’s second Premier game, and he put up the league’s best performance. That was followed by only one save by Bremerton’s Jaden Salado (‘05/Omaha, Neb.), who stopped 47 saves in the same game, earning a shutout in the shootout loss. It was a goaltenders’ duel #instantclassic!

Pacific Division

Forward: Knut Hornkvist, San Diego Sabers

Hornkvist (‘04/Ornskoldsvik, Sweden) registered a pair of goals and added seven assists for nine points over three games that saw a 2-1 record. He has points in 12 straight games and has racked up 27 points in just 14 games this year and 70 points in 54 career Premier games.

Defense: Aidan Cosgrove, San Diego Sabers

Local native Cosgrove (‘04/Carlsbad, Calif.) entered the Sabers already with two prior years of EHL experience. Cosgrove put up a 3-3-6 line in the Sabers’ past three games, with each of his goals being power play goals. He has 14 points in his first 14 games this season.

Goaltender: Domenik McInenly, Ontario Jr. Reign

No stranger to this honor, McInenly (‘05/Red Deer, Alb.) stopped 40 of 41 shots when the Jr. Reign defeated the Lake Tahoe Lakers on Oct. 22, marking his fifth straight victory this season. His .965 save percentage also leads the league.
