USPHL Premier Playoffs Day 5: March 2, 2025

Dells Ducks 3, Minnesota Mullets 2

The Dells Ducks defeated the host Minnesota Mullets 3-2 to force a Game 3 on Monday at 7 p.m. CST. Derrand Wilcox scored the game-winning goal in the second period, and Maximilian Pierce came up huge in net with 46 saves on 48 shots.

 

P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 4, Elmira Impact 1

The P.A.L. Jr. Islanders and Elmira Impact are headed to Game 3 on Monday at 12 p.m. EST in the Atlantic Division 2v7 series. Thomas Miller scored twice, William Prange had a goal and an assist and goaltender Avery Hite stopped 42 of 43 shots for the P.A.L. win.

 

Rockets Hockey Club 4, West Chester Wolves 3 (OT2) 

You’ve got to love a deciding Game 3 that goes to double-overtime! The Rockets move on in the Atlantic Division after going deep on Game 3, until Matthew Kymer scored an overtime GWG for the ages. The Rockets, who were up 3-1 during regulation before the Wolves tied it up, were able to come back for the win when it mattered most. In net, the Rockets’ Timothy Miller stopped 65 of 68 shots and the Wolves’ Elijah Wiltshire made 51 saves on 55 shots. The Rockets are awaiting their second round opponent, which is to be determined.

 

Motor City Gamblers 5, Metro Jets Development Program 2

Game 1 leaders for Motor City included Kohen Dixson with two goals, Braeden Goers with a goal and an assist, Ethan Gray had three assists and Isaac Bunk had two assist. Goaltender Tyler Houle made 32 saves on 34 shots and for MJDP, Eliot Duerr made 32 saves on 36 shots.

 

Mercer Chiefs 4, Red Bank Generals 1

Premier veteran Tristan Frizado was a force for Mercer all day, scoring twice and earning an assist (on Lucas Collins’ goal seen here). In goal, Edouard Piche racked up 36 saves on 37 shots in the win, while the Red Bank Generals’ Braxton Singleton stopped 43 of 47.

 

Hampton Roads Whalers 5, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes 2

Hampton Roads will play Monday against the Charlotte Rush, and the winning team moves on to the championship round and the losing team of Monday’s game will see their season end. Zachary Ruffenach scored twice for the Whalers on Sunday vs. Carolina. Noel Wargloo and Wyatt Teubert each had a goal and an assist, and goaltender Timo Johner stopped 43 of 45 shots for the win. Carolina’s Michael Foglia stopped 39 of 44.

 

Chicago Cougars 4, Decatur Blaze 3

Rocco Romita scored a hat trick for the Cougars, William Stornello had three assists, and Jordan Trakosas had two assists. The Cougars’ Cameron Boville stopped 37 of 40 shots, while Decatur’s David Racan made 35 saves on 38 shots. With the MJDP and Motor City series just underway with the Gamblers up one game to zero, the Cougars’ second round opponent remains TBD.

 

Potomac Patriots 2, Charlotte Rush 0 

The Potomac Patriots advance to the Southeast Division Championship round, and they will now await their Tuesday opponent, which will be the winner of Monday’s game between the Hampton Roads Whalers and the Charlotte Rush.

Viggo Boston stopped all 43 shots he faced in the 2-0 win for Potomac, but Evan Crawford was also strong for Charlotte with 52 saves on 53 shots. Dominik Budka’s goal at 5:02 of the third was the GWG.
