Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender Harrison Meneghin has capped off a banner week by signing a three-year, entry-level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Bolts Vice-President and General Manager Julien BriseBois announced Monday.

The 20-year-old is fresh off winning a WHL Championship with the Medicine Hat Tigers with a Game 5 victory on Friday, May 16.

His MVP-worthy postseason run saw Meneghin post a 14-1-0-0 record, a 2.35 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage and three shutouts in 16 playoff appearances.

He inspired fans and teammates alike after rallying through a tremendous loss on the cusp of the playoffs.

Meneghin’s father, Derek, passed away unexpectedly on the final day of the regular season.

The young man opted to return to the ice less than a week later with a 21-save shutout in Game 1 against the Swift Current Broncos before dominating the rest of the competition.

Meneghin was acquired by the Tigers early on in the 2024-25 season as part of the squad’s push for the postseason.

He closed out his final season of WHL eligibility with a 23-10-1-1 record, a .2.58 goals-against average, a .900 save percentage and three clean sheets.

Meneghin snagged Tempo WHL Player of the Week honours six times in addition to WHL Goaltender of the Month wins in January and March.

The 6-foot-3, 169-pound netminder was selected by the Lightning with the 206th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft

Meneghin, from South Surrey, B.C., has logged a career record of 69-42-8-3 record with a .910 save percentage, 2.68 goals against average and seven shutouts.

The Tigers now turn their attention to the 2025 Memorial Cup, which runs from May 22 to June 1 in Rimouski, Que.

Medicine Hat opens the tournament against the host Rimouski Oceanic on Friday, May 23, at 5:00 p.m. MST.
