Wild forward Shcherbyna commits to Colgate University for 2026-27

Wenatchee, Wash.- Wenatchee Wild forward Luka Shcherbyna has announced his commitment to Colgate University.

The 19-year-old will join the Raiders for the 2026-27 season.

“Colgate was the perfect fit for me with their elite hockey program that will help me turn pro, and high-end academics to back it up,” Shcherbyna said. “It’s a place where I’ll be able to grow as a player and a person.”

Shcherbyna netted 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points in 62 games in 2024-25, finishing fourth on the Wild in goals and assists and fifth in points.

He turned heads with his first WHL hat trick on February 4, 2025, with a four-goal effort in an 8-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Shcherbyna was selected by Spokane in the second round of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft and went on to play two games for the Chiefs, but truly broke into the league with the Wild in 2023-24.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound winger from Vancouver, B.C. has totalled 33 goals and 40 assists for 73 points in 122 career regular-season games.

The Wild will open the 2025-26 WHL preseason against the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, August 31, at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee.
