The 2024 NCDC Frozen Futures Showcase in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been a resounding success from Wednesday morning through Friday night.
The biggest sign of that success has been in bringing in no less than 32 registered NCAA scouts.
“The Frozen Futures Showcase was proud to welcome 32 NCAA scouts this week, including Division I programs such as Air Force Academy and the new Tennessee State program, as well as some of the best NCAA Division III programs in the country,” said Spud Kings General Manager Erik Hudson, also the General Manager of the Mountain America Center.
These scouts have seen close action throughout this week, including two overtime games as well as a shootout on Friday afternoon. All but one of the first eight games was decided by three goals or less.
“It has been a good showcase overall. You couldn’t ask for a better second year. Every game has been close for the most part,” added Hudson.
The crowds for the first two Idaho Falls Spud Kings games both numbered above 3,000. An estimated 3,200 were in house for the Wednesday night game, followed by 3,550 for the Thursday game. Friday night’s game is likely a sellout, Hudson added.
