Two teams can seal a berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs on Saturday night- but they’ll need a little help from the out-of-town scoreboard.
The Victoria Royals can clinch a playoff berth with:
- Any win at Vancouver; and
- Any Kamloops loss at Kelowna
The Spokane Chiefs can clinch a playoff berth with:
- Any win vs Tri-City; and
- Any Kamloops loss at Kelowna
Victoria (32-14-3-5) has won six straight games to remain at the top of the B.C. Division and on pace for the team’s best season in six years.
Veterans Teydon Trembecky and Kenta Isogai scored twice in the Royals’ 5-2 over the Vancouver Giants on Friday night in the first of a home-and-away set.
The rivalry series moves to the Langley Events Centre on Saturday night, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. PST.
Spokane (35-16-1-1) is coming off an astounding comeback attempt that ultimately fell short on Friday night.
Led by Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton, the Chiefs scored twice in the final two and a half minutes of regulation to earn a single point against the Tri-City Americans, though the Ams would pick up the extra point in the shootout.
Tonight’s rematch shifts East to Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena for a 7:05 p.m. showdown.
Kamloops (19-29-4-0) snapped a five-game slide with a 3-1 win over the Kelowna Rockets (16-31-4-1) on Friday and look to delay their Western Conference foe’s clinching scenarios as they travel to face the 2026 Memorial Cup hosts again at Kelowna’s Prospera Place.
Puck drop is slated for 6:05 p.m. PST.
