 VALENCIA FLYERS VS. FRESNO MONSTERS

Valencia Flyers 3, Fresno Monsters 5

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8102

Narek Aleksanyan (2G-1A) and Zackery Turpin (1G-2A) pushed the Fresno Monsters to a win over the Valencia Flyers at the Ice Station-Valencia on Thursday night. The Flyers drop three in the season to the Monsters, with the loss, despite showing resistance in the second period.

Valencia’s Simon Krbashyan (1G) and Evgenii Semeniuk (1G-1A) brought the game within one goal in the middle frame. Fresno’s Karlenzig conceded the goals but stopped 14 and an additional seven in the third. In total, Karlenzig made 27 saves to keep the Flyers down.

Mikhail Gavrilenko and Petr Philippov each scored first to give Fresno a 2-0 lead in the opening frame. Valencia’s first of two, lead-cutting snipes, came from Krbasyan at 14:26 of the second.

Valencia Flyers 1, Fresno Monsters 7

 https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8104

A pair of goals from Tristan Mirasty (2G-1A) and four points from Narek Aleksanyan (1G-3A) allowed Fresno to gain the better of the Valencia Flyers. The Monsters came out even heavier on Friday night, the second and final game of the weekend between the two.

Five additional players registered multiple points including Zackery Turpin (1G-1A) who had multiple points for a second consecutive night. Turpin has points in his last 17 of 20 games including a nine-point game against the West Sound Admirals on Nov. 16.

Max Karlenzig cruised to an 18 save night but was denied the shutout when Kiriil Hordiichuk scored for the Flyers at 10:03 of the third period.

That makes it four wins over Valencia with all wins at the Ice Station-Valencia.

The Monsters reached the victory on Friday with two goals in the first and second, and adding a trio of insurance goals in the third period.

SAN DIEGO SABERS VS. FRESNO MONSTERS/VALENCIA FLYERS/ONTARIO AVALANCHE

San Diego Sabers 8, Ontario Avalanche 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8109

William Baird (3G-1A) scored a hat-trick and game-winner to boost the Sabers past the Avalanche at the Iceoplex Escondido. San Diego won its third straight game against Ontario going back to Oct. 27.

San Diego received supplemental scoring fro Jeremiah Serino (2G) and Trevor Wittkopf (2G-1A), who both had two goals.

The win for San Diego was challenged in the second frame as Ontario scored three unanswered to tie the game that was ostensibly out of reach. Kyle Barrett, Cameron Miller and Charles Riordon (1G-2A) connected to make it 4-4.

Scoring in succession was the prevailing theme for the Sabers who proceeded to get on the board twice, later in the second, and two more times in the third, to make it 8-4. San Diego’s first chunk of goals registered in the first frame as a response to Ontario’s Jack Davenport’s goal that tied it 1-1.

San Diego Sabers 1, Fresno Monsters 3

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8121

Jon Tagoona scored the game winner and Max Karlenzig stopped 33 of 34 shots for the win and to even the season series at two games each. The Sabers collected a pair of wins over Fresno in early Nov. with 12 goals in two games, but are now held to two goals in as many games against them.

It was a quiet first period as neither team could figure out the opposing goalie. Narek Aleksanyan extended his scoring streak when he broke the stalemate at 14:00 of the second. Dylan Travis was able to chop the Fresno lead in half at 4:54 of the third after Tagoona made it 2-0.

San Diego intensified in the third stanza making Karlenzig work for 16 saves in the period. San Diego’s Calijah Hunter only faced five shots in that window, but in that sample size came Fresno’s difference making goals.

George Leech netted the Monsters’ third tally with less than a minute on the clock. Fresno only had two games on the schedule, but finished their weekend as the top team in the Western Division with Vegas trailing seven points behind.

San Diego Sabers 6, Valencia Flyers 2

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8122

A hat-trick from Trevor Wittkopf (3G-1A) and secondary goals from three additional Sabers improved San Diego to their fifth home victory of the season. San Diego had a lot of good fortune in piecing together succeeding goals this weekend, and the trend persisted Sunday night against Valencia.

Valencia’s Brendan Culbertson-Bond stopped essentially double the amount of shots than his team could produce. Culbertson-Bond stopped 40 of 46 shots as the Flyers were held to 21 shots in the game.

Michael Onda and Kiriil Hordiichuk both scored for Valencia who was overshadowed by San Diego’s strong closing period.

Wittkopf scored two goals in the third to complete his hat-trick while Dylan Travis scored one at 3:45 on a rebound from a previous wrap-around attempt.

Valencia is enduring a four-game skid extending back to last weekend, which is still proving to be the peak of their season so far.

ONTARIO AVALANCHE VS. LAS VEGAS THUNDERBIRDS

Ontario Avalanche 6, Las Vegas Thunderbirds 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8113

The Las Vegas Thunderbirds were hoping that off-setting hat-tricks would be like two-negatives equaling a positive. However, the positive went to Eric Moran and the Ontario Avalanche who avenged their previous loss to the Thunderbirds.

Moran (3G-1A) led his team in goals while Gabel Longshore (1G-3A) had a stellar game on the assists department, as both skaters cruised to four-point nights.

Moran battled with Las Vegas’s Tomas Urbanec who had hat-trick himself, although the goals weren’t as timely as they could have been to inspire the tie. Joseph Wheeler (3A) followed with three helpers and Emil Svartbro (1G-1A) contributed with two points.

Of note, the Thunderbirds have plateaued as of late, after starting the season with eight straight wins. Within that streak, Las Vegas defeated the Avalanche 7-0. In all but one game during the streak, they scored five or more goals. Since beating Ontario 7-0, they haven’t been able to reach the five-goal mark.

The three points help Ontario remain in the conversion, as they are two points from third in the Western Division, and eight points from second.

Ontario Avalanche 0, Las Vegas Thunderbirds 5

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8125

The Avalanche couldn’t carry over the same performance from Game 1. Emil Svartbro (1G-2A), Nikolas Sotiriou (2A), and Filip Nordin (1G-1A) all had multiple points to see the Thunderbirds four points out of first place in the West.

Rhett Bruckner secured his first shutout on 26 saves and improves to four wins after battling injury.

Nordin’s opening goal at 17:46 of the first stands as the game-winner, but scoring includes the helping hands of 11 different players.

SOUTHERN OREGON SPARTANS VS. UTAH OUTLIERS

Southern Oregon Spartans 1, Utah Outliers 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8457

After scoring eight or more goals in each of their nine previous games, the Utah Outliers skate to a low-scoring 4-1 win at the Accord Ice Center. Tor Modin made it 2-0 at 11:59 of the first period, and was credited with the game-winning goal as the Utah Outliers’ opening effort cleared them for victory.

Three of four Utah goals came in the first period. Southern Oregon’s lone goal-getter was an unassisted tally by Jeremy Vant Geloof at 16:03 of the second period. The Spartans owe a lot to goalie Christopher O’Shaughnessy who stopped 65 of 69 shots to keep the Outliers from pouring it on. Oscar Wahlgren earned his sixth victory in net for Utah despite not enduring a heavy volume of shots.

Southern Oregon Spartans 2, Utah Outliers 10

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8459

Dawson Armstrong lended a hand in two goals and the Outliers performed in defensive harmony to keep the Spartans to only two goals. Utah got another taste of double-digits as they potted six goals in the third period to help them do so.

Ian Wark and Artur Chirkov gave the Spartans some life but were quickly deflated as the Outliers had total control of the game.

Southern Oregon Spartans 1, Utah Outliers 5

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8461

Ben Doherty scored a power play goal and had an assist as the Outliers required a comeback after Southern Oregon scored first.

The Accord Ice Arena was stunned when Southern Oregon’s Pavel Bykov made it 1-0 at 9:18 of the first period—Spartans only had two shots in the period.

Alex Charin tied the game for Utah shortly after that, in the first, but the game went into the first intermission tied 1-1. The Outliers came out finely tuned in the second and took the lead on Doherty’s goal at 7:58.

Utah added two more goals in the third period and created the four-goal lead to finalize the game. The Outliers extend their win streak to 12 games making it the third largest active win streak in the league behind Ogden (20) and Edson (14).

The Spartans have now lost their previous 12 games and haven’t won since Halloween.

BELLINGHAM BLAZERS VS. WEST SOUND ADMIRALS

Bellingham Blazers 2, West Sound Admirals 1

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8108

Joshua Mizue’s late-frame goal in the second period scorched the West Sound Admirals into their 17th straight loss.

The game was relatively even in the first frame as the shots were level at 15 a piece. Bellingham got the jump on West Sound with the opening goal at 6:15 of the first from Javin Billings. The former Las Vegas Thunderbird scored the only goal in the first.

Bellingham took a noticeable advantage in the game as they started to test West Sound’s Rader Kocak in the second. Their efforts were fruitful and came to fruition when Mizue buried the game winner with 18 seconds to go in the middle frame.

Bellingham Blazers 4, West Sound Admirals 2

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8119

Sam Miland made 33 of 35 saves to cruise the Blazers to their fourth straight win over the West Sound Admirals, since opening the season against them. Four goal scorers showed out for Bellingham who let the lead slip once in the second period.

Blazer’s Forward, Ian Ball, scored his first goal since Oct. 18 to get the night started. The No. 27 Jarrett Reiber, sporting opposing colors, tied the game for West Sound at 16:49 of the second stanza.

Bellingham took one back and made it 3-1 about a minute after the Admirals got on the board. Milo Schneidmiller netted the game-winning goal in the third period, though it wasn’t over.

The Admirals Randy Yeakley made it 2-4 and shed some light on the Admirals who had a full period to work toward the tie.

HINTON TIMBERWOLVES VS. COLD LAKE HORNETS

Hinton Timberwolves 5, Cold Lake Hornets 1

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8105

The Hinton Timberwolves have been on the prowl and mainly due to Jamahl Eakett who scored his third hat-trick in a row. Two opening goals by Eakett made it 2-0 and a third goal made it 3-1 as the Timberwolves continue to impose their dominance over the Provincial Division.

Kolter Pawlick stopped 31 of 33 shots and mitigated the Hornets second period push. Hinton wasn’t presented with adversity, as they were able to build a 5-0 lead by the midpoint of the third frame.

Caleb Day was the only Hornet on the score sheet with a goal. Day’s effort at 13:33 of the second stanza cut the 2-0 lead in half although his team did not boast the same agency as he did.

The Timberwolves included three additional goals to reach the 5-1 score line.

Hinton Timberwolves 2, Cold Lake Hornets 5

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8117

The Cold Lake Hornets pulled off a Provincial Division upset with their best showing of the season, and may have found the turning point they need in snapping Hinton’s 15-game win streak.

Anson Smith (3G-2A) scored a hat-trick and Riley Tucker backstopped the Hornets with 56 saves and a .965 SV%.

Colby Krupp and Yauheni Lavrov dished two additional goals as Cold Lake relied on seven different point getters.

Cold Lake should study the winning formula that helped them beat Hinton as they become just the second team all season to defeat them—Edson Aeros have two wins over Hinton.

The Hornets converted on three straight power plays to separate themselves from Hinton who was held scoreless until the final seven minutes of the game. Eakett was held to a single goal at 7:12 of the third and Dorian Hall had Bellingham’s second goal.

In surprising fashion, the Hornets scored five unanswered goals to give the Energy Centre faithful their biggest cheer of the season. Cold Lake will face the Bombers next week before playing another three games against Hinton at the Energy Centre.

DALLAS SNIPERS VS. OKLAHOMA CITY BLAZERS

Dallas Snipers 0, Oklahoma City Blazers 3

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8103

A pair of goals from Brigham Neuhold in the third frame put Oklahoma City ahead and Joel Svensson registered his seventh win, and second shutout making 29 saves against Dallas.

Since playing at the Allen Event Center, home of the ECHL’s Allen Americans, the Blazers have wanted another attempt at the Snipers. They were capable of mustering up a strong win at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena on Friday.

Lukas Narovec ignited the goal scoring for the Blazers at 7:35 of the first but then were scoreless for the entire second period.

The Blazer’s Neuhold-Hajek-St. Onge line made all the difference for Oklahoma in the latter stages of the game. The even shot-count made for a good set-up in a tighter Game 2 the following night.

Dallas Snipers 4(SO), Oklahoma City Blazers 3

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8116

It took six rounds of shootout but Gasper Konc and the Dallas Snipers hustled for the two points over Oklahoma City, who was stopped by Alexander Aleshkin.

Aleshkin made 14 of 17 saves in the regulation time before stopping all six Blazers in the shootout. The Snipers outshot Oklahoma with 36 total shots.

Konc may have had the game-winner but Arvidas Domeika (1G-2A) scored three points to force overtime. Domeika had the primary assist on Bradley Richardson’s goal at 2:44 of the third to tie the game.

Dallas scored first but quickly let the Blazers tie one minute after. Into the second period, the game was 1-1 before Egor Taran took the lead back for the Blazers. Dallas showed a brilliant response with two great looks that ended up in goals and they were on their way to overtime.

After Dallas battled to take control of the score, they kept the pressure as firm as a vice grip to render the final two minutes of regulation and the overtime, scoreless.

Dallas is 11 points behind third place, Oklahoma City, and will have a decent opportunity to close that gap as they face six games against a lower half team. The Blazers will have a more difficult six games taking on the well rested Pueblo Bulls and the Northern Colorado Eagles.

Dallas Snipers 4(OT), Oklahoma City Blazers 3

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8127

After scoring the night before to send the Snipers and Blazers to overtime, Bradley Richardson upped his performance with a hat-trick to give Dallas its first weekend-series win since the start of the season.

The two straight wins are the first back-to-back wins—in the same weekend—for Dallas since beating the Pueblo Bulls in late September.

Coincidentally, the Snipers achieved those opening wins in overtime and shootout as well.

The Blazers got on the board with Brigham Neuhold (1G-1A), Dylan Koch and Benjamin St. Onge. Prior to their goal, Richardson had scored twice already at 17:33 of the first and 16:22 of the second.

Alexsey Syrotenko has been a consistent player for the Snipers but went silent for a few games prior to this weekend. Well, Syrotenko reappeared with a goal and four points to lead all skaters.

The Snipers forced Danick Francoeur to make 43 saves as they outshot the Blazers by 19 shots.

BARRHEAD BOMBERS VS. EDSON AEROS

Barrhead Bombers 3, Edson Aeros 10

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8110

Sebastian Heden (3G-3A) and Kevin Lundin (3G-3A) scored hat-tricks to lift the Aeros over the Bombers who started on a two-goal lead.

Heden’s natural hat-trick facilitated a five-goal response by the Aeros that took them to victory as the Bombers could not recover.

The Aeros dismantled the Barrhead penalty kill in the third as they connected on four straight man advantages and one short handed to end the game.

The Bombers started effectively on a 2-0 lead after Tyler Kulczycki and Serhii Poimanov scored at 18:26 and 14:55 of the first. Barrhead failed to sustain the lead for very long before Heden took over for Edson.

Barrhead Bombers 3, Edson Aeros 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8120

The Edson Aeros continued to expose the Bombers’ penalty kill as they score three special teams goals to make the come-from-behind win possible.

Kevin Lundin led the team with three helpers and aided Edson to its 14th straight victory—second longest active streak. They found their goals from four different players including multiple point efforts by Niklas Froden (1G-1A) and Axel Sodergreen (1G-1A).

Barrhead’s Wassim Saidani lit the lamp first at 16:46 of the first. That’s two nights where the Bombers open the scoring but can’t springboard off the good start. It was Saidani’s first point since playing the Edson Aeros on Oct. 27.

Froden and Quentin Stempfel took the 2-1 lead for Edson going into the first intermission. The Bombers could tie it 2-2 on a short-handed bid that was capitalized by Dmitro Kobylnyk at 12:21 of the second.

From there, Barrhead endured a drop off in production compared to their first period as the Aeros added two more to make it 4-2. The Bombers found one more power play goal with 10 minutes remaining but chances were scarce with only six shots on net.

EL PASO RHINOS VS. NORTHERN COLORADO EAGLES

El Paso Rhinos 6, Northern Colorado Eagles 3

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8111

Sebastian Jovicic registered three points while an all out concerted effort by six different Rhinos ousted the Eagles at the Greeley Ice Haus. Two power play and two short-handed goals caught the Eagles by storm.

Four of the first five goals came on special teams leaving the Eagle’s with very little recourse, as they couldn’t manage on even strength as much as they needed. Sam Robinson and Easton Easterson made it 2-0 and had the only goals in the first period.

Northern Colorado caught a spark in the second period making it their strongest as far as shot production. Having said that, they fell even further with Sawyer Schmidt playing perfectly in the first two periods.

He was denied a shutout to begin the third period when Brennan McFarland scored at 19:21. His goal would motivate a harder push and the Eagle’s got two more to cut it 5-3. The Rhinos held on defensively and added the insurance goal with less than a minute.

El Paso Rhinos 1, Northern Colorado Eagles 5

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8112

It was a distinct Northern Colorado team that played to a defensive tune. The win marks only the second time El Paso is limited to one goal this season.

Eric Hildebrand (1G-2A) led the Eagles with three points, including the game-winner, and a total of nine registered to successfully defeat the top team in the Midwest-Mountain Division.

The Rhinos enjoyed the routine start, getting on the board first, when Dylan Fontaine scored 15:39 of the first. John Campbell scored his fifth goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 at 8:34.

Marshall Murphy had a lot of work to do in the middle stanza making 16 saves. In total, Murphy stopped 37 shots to earn his 10th win of the season. Of note, Murphy and Schmidt each have 10 wins to lead the league.

El Paso Rhinos 2, Northern Colorado Eagles 1

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8124

Two goals from Niklas Ornmarker separated the Rhinos from the Eagles on Sunday night as the Rhinos nearly dropped two in a row for the first time in 2019-2020.

Ornmarker scored the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the third, and the feeling of overtime looming. Oliver Soovik made 14 saves in the third period to give the Rhinos a chance. The Eagles out-chanced the Rhinos in that period, though Soovik made a total of 41 saves in the night.

Ornmarker tied the game 1-1 at 16:09 of the third after they couldn’t solve Murphy all game. Murphy made 40 saves before he got beat by Ornmarker and allowed the Eagles to sustain a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

Bank Burkhart scored the game’s first goal at 5:32 of the second period.

WICHITA JR. THUNDER VS. STEAMBOAT WRANGLERS

Friday’s game between the Wichita Jr. Thunder and Steamboat Wranglers was cancelled due to bus and transportation issues. The two clubs only played Saturday and Sunday.

Wichita Jr. Thunder 11, Steamboat Wranglers 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8114

Three players for Wichita had at least five points including Michael Power (1G-6A) who led with seven points to give the Jr. Thunder its biggest win of the season so far. What seemed to be an evenly matched game, on paper, between the two lower seeded teams in the Midwest-Mountain, turned to be all out dominance for the Wichita side.

The Jr. Thunder were at ease with the 5-0 score going into the second period. Of note, two of the 11 goals scored were shorthanded and four were on the man advantage. Wichita is still well behind the eight ball as far as points are concerned.

With only eight points and the toughest part of their season coming up, the Jr. Thunder will need a complete season turn around and hope this will do it.

Wichita Jr. Thunder 5, Steamboat Wranglers 4

https://stats.wshl.timetoscore.com/generate-scorecard.php?game_id=8123

The Jr. Thunder didn’t reach their second straight win without a big push back from the Wranglers.

Steamboat’s final game came with some class as they went down punching with two goals in the third period.

It was announced that the Steamboat Wranglers Organization is ceasing operations for the 2019-2020 season.
